I felt a little embarrassed today
While at my girlfriends, I tried to change a diaper on my own. I was pretty certain he only peed, but low and behold there was more. I started gagging so badly that I actually felt the vomit come right up. Stupid me breathed through my nose (didn't make a mess, made it to the bathroom) and the stench was horrible. Normally, poop doesn't bother me like this.
Thank God my friend was there, but this never happened to me before.
Do you think it's because I'm pregnant and certain smells just trigger sickness? My Dh was there too and he's like "I'm not taking breaks to come home and change a diaper" and I assured him it's because I still have a little morning sickness, I have the same happen when I see or smell raw chicken.

Re: I felt a little embarrassed today
I definitely think it's because of being pregnant...
I projectile vomited all over my kitchen (TMI) after a "throw up burp" after dinner one night...poor DH had to clean it all up because it was all over me so I had to run to the shower...
raw meat = vomit full garbage bag that needs to go out = vomit
so I definitely don't think that would be something normal PP (hopefully anyway!! )
ETA: lots of random smells and even SOUNDS make me close to vomiting...I can't even listen to DH cough right now..he has a cold w/a thick cough and just the sound of it sends me into dry heaves...it's nothing like before being pregnant

Garbage, yes. Sounds, omg - i thought i was the only one. my FIL gets a little reflux so he'll make sounds like he's about to throw up and I can't listen, I'll cough or something to avoid hearing it.
Also, if the sponge has been sitting in the sink soaked all night - DH has the habit of not ringing it out and keeping it in the holder and it has that mildew smell.

Re: I felt a little embarrassed today
OMG... this is my worst fear. I run from other kids' dirty diapers and now I'm having a baby. What am I going to do?!?!?!
I'm so afraid of "the diaper situation".

Re: I felt a little embarrassed today
yaa it's definitely NOT the most fun part of this process...but it's weird, I got sick this morning, and although I am miserable when getting sick, I couldn't help but think to myself, "aww my little peanut is in there making me do this! thank you baby!" like totally grateful to know that he/she is in there growing and thriving, otherwise I wouldn't have any of these symptoms you know?? so weird...

I was told because the baby came from you, it's different. I hope that's true. That's about the only thing I'm really worried about. I can feed, burp, change clothes quickly, and I've mastered a few techniques to get them to stop crying, but diaper changing? I hope it just comes to me.
And DH impressed me when he knew you're supposed to point the peniiss down when you put on the new diaper - I actually didn't know that!

Re: I felt a little embarrassed today
newborn poop is not as bad - doesn't start to smell until they start solids really - and thats 4-6 months.
I will say that I'm one of "those" that vomits when I get grossed out - and dealing potty training my 3 yo while prego has been very difficult for me. Poor thing has seen me vomit too often. But now that I'm in my final month, I'm doing much better with it. Definitely makes a difference that its your own kid - but being prego makes things much worse than normal.

Re: I felt a little embarrassed today
DS is 16 months old and obviously still in diapers. WHenever DH or my mom is around they do the poop diapers. If I am alone I change them and gag everytime. Many times I have "chewed back" the barf and choked it back down because I had no choice but to continue changing DS's diaper. It has not gotten better through this pregnancy as I am 24 weeks now. This never happened prior to pregnancy so I am certain it is because of that. No worries. This too shall pass but I do feel your pain.

Re: I felt a little embarrassed today
Omg you will love this. I'm a kiddie eye doctor and puked to 32+ weeks. In the OR, in the office etc.
Once a kid puked on my shoe so I ran to the barroom and puked. Then we composed ourselves and he puked in MY FACE! Then I turned an puked inthe garbage!

Re: I felt a little embarrassed today
I refer to my pregnancy as pukefest 2010-2011.
It's only funny now that it's over!
PS-sorry about all the typos. My phone is terrible
