Accounting field......

What are the best ways that a person without prior experience or an internship get a job in accounting field? Doing an internship while I was school was out of the question as I needed to work in order to pay my bills.

I finished my master's degree in December and was in the process of looking for employment. I stopped back in March due to a major family crisis. Things are finally falling into place where I feel comfortable looking again.

I just feel like I am at a disadvantage, one b/c of lack of experience and two because its been awhile since I had started my search.

Please tell me that there is still hope.

You should be able to land a job at a public accounting firm - have you looked there?

Would your college help you look for a job? I know where I went to school they had a Cooperative Education Program. They helped me land an accounting job while in college and then would offer their services after graduation as well.

Also try contacting your local chapter of NYS Society of Certified Public Accuontants (if you are located here in NYS); there is also a website called cpaclassifieds.com you can look at also.
