when to see an RE
Ok girls I need your advice... I am 37 and have been ttc for a year with a miscarriage in March and have very irregular cycles that run very long. I do have a DS who will be 3 next week...my obgyn put me on a low dose of synthroid to lower my thyroid which is a little high for optimum conceiving...it was also supposed to regulate my cycles better which run from 36 to 50 days with the longest ever at 60 and I went on progesterone to bring on af which was this past November. Every summer my cycles go even longer I think because I am off and away from the girls at work I usually cycle with So should I consider seeing an RE and how do I go about it? Thanks I know this was LONG
***how funny that I added a year to my age cause I keep thinking if I get preggers I'll be 37 when I have this one...I am prematurely ageing my eggs

It depends on your insurance
As far as if/when to go... My opinion is, if you have to ask that question in the first place, you basically have your answer It never hurts to get an opinion from a specialist! If they think their services aren't necessary, they will tell you!
If you need a rec, the infertility board is a GREAT source. I always recommend Dr.Braverman He also gets tons of raves.

Re: when to see an RE
depending on your insurance plan you may need a referral. I just scheduled an appt with RS of NY and they sent me a bunch of paperwork to fill out before my appointment and they listed a few insurance companies that require referrals.. I would just call the RE (whoever you choose) and see if they take your insurance and if they need a referral.

Re: when to see an RE
I would set up a consult with an RE and let him/her know what is going in and get some tests done. I did not need a referral to see my RE, but I would check with your insurance company. Good luck! FM me is you have any questions.

Re: when to see an RE
I went to see one after a year and a half and I wish I had gone earlier.
There are plenty of good REs out there. I suggest going to one that is convenient to either work or home because you might end up intheir office a ot if you have to do IUI/IVF. Also, pick one in network as infertility treatments can get expensive and if you have coverage there is no need to pay out of pocket.
I saw a Dr at Columbia in the city because I could go befoer work and eas never late for work and never waited in their office.

Re: when to see an RE
I made my first appointment with an RE today. I see him on Thursday. I will let you know how the experience went in case you are still looking for an RE by then.

Re: when to see an RE
They usually say 6 mo ttc on your own over 35 or if you know you have issues. I'm under 35 and went pretty quickly (3 mo after lap) and it was the best decision.
Good luck!
