Down to the wire ... how many to transfer
I got the call today that they retrived 5 eggs and 4 fertilized with IVF / ICSI. I am the 40 year old with a very active 19 month old son. Ins will cover two more IVF/ICSI and three freezes. They want to do a Day 3 transfer because I do not have at least 7 or 8 embryos, if I did they would push to blastocyst. DH and I will find out the grading on Thurs/ Day 3. I am scared about twins but wanted to be conservative and do one. Do you think one is foolishgiven my situation? DH has the sperm issue and we conceived DS naturally in 2009.

Re: Down to the wire ... how many to transfer
If it were ME I would not do less than two. I even transferred THREE my last cycle.
However.. that's ME. You seem really nervous about it though so if it will ease your anxiety over this, maybe one is best.
Good luck!!

I'd definitely do 2. I am also 40 (with a very active 16 month old) and planning on transferring 2, if not 3! Good luck!!!

Re: Down to the wire ... how many to transfer
I would definitely do 2.
I have used more than 10 embryos (5-day) and have gotten 1 baby out of them all (multiple transfers obviously) so personally, I would never do less than 2.

Re: Down to the wire ... how many to transfer
I would do all 4. I did that one cycle and only 1 took.. Given your age ( same as me) I would just go for it, the likelyhood of twins is low. the grading in my opnion does not mean anything, what is imporant is that the embryo is free of chromonosmal issues, and the grade will not tell you that.
good luck to you!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had three and transferred all but only one took. I would definitely do at least 2 if not all.

Re: Down to the wire ... how many to transfer
I would do 2. We origianlly wanted to do 1 but spoke with the doctor about the odds again. We wound up doing 2, both took but one of the sacs was empty so I'm 11 weeks pregnant with a singleton!

Agree. I was 28 when I did my IVF and transferred 2 perfect 5 day blasts and ended up with one healthy DD.
I would definitely do at least 2....more likely 3.
Good Luck
