If you were Induced...
Can you please tell me about your experience?
I am 8 days late today and finally broke down. I am bored out of my mind and sick and tired of everyone asking me when the baby is coming, I DON"T F***ING KNOW, and I am sick of hearing about oh maybe tomorrow, maybe this day, I just want to be left alone to be honest. I never thought going late would feel so rough, but I am feeling it today....
So I am going to be induced on Tuesday, and am nervous about it, so any input would be appreciated.
TIA

Re: If you were Induced...
I was induced with DS and had a scheduled induction with DD, but went on my own.
I had no problems with the induction and did not have a c-section.
Good luck!!!

Re: If you were Induced...
I was induced 4 days late with DS.
I was slightly dilated so I was just induced using pitocin.
I had a successful induction, was in labor for about 12 hrs and pushed for 20 minutes before DS was born.

Re: If you were Induced...
It took 48 hours (2 rounds of cervidil did nothing) but I delivered vaginally. It was not easy, but I guess labor rarely is!

Re: If you were Induced...
i know how you feel...i wanted to punch people for asking me. but i was sent to L&D on my due date for pre-eclampsia on a friday.
friday night i was admitted.
2am saturday morning i was giving my first round of cervadil. (this helps soften the cervix if you are not effaced, which i wasnt)
2pm i received my second round of cervadil...it didnt work.
2am sunday morning i'm checked again and still not effaced...but i was having contractions all night.
at 4am they decided to give me a c-section and forgo the pitocin (pitocin helps you dilate)
8am sunday morning I went in for the c/s and 8:32am DS was born.
wasn't so bad...just was tired of waiting!!!

Re: If you were Induced...
I was induced when I was 8 days late. My water never broke, I didn't have 1 contraction on my own, the baby never dropped... basically DD was not going to come out on her own! I went in the hospital at 6:30pm. They gave me cervadil at about 7:30-8pm. A couple of hours later I started to have contractions. By about 4am they were getting pretty bad. I finally got my epidural at around 8am and must say it was the best thing ever! A little later they started pitocin. I dilated to 5cm and never progressed any further. They also broke my water. When I had come in I was not dilated at all. I ended up with a c section at 2:43pm b/c I was not progressing. My OB later told me that DD would have never fit through my pelvis. I wish I would have delivered vaginally but I got a healthy baby girl and that is all that matters

Re: If you were Induced...
I was induced using pitocin when I was one day passed my due date cause of chronic high blood pressure. I was induced at 830 am ( I was 2 cm dilated) with breaking my water then as well. I was ready to push by 8pm. I did however end in a c-section. It was my choice. Turns out it was mother's intuition as the cord was wrapped tightly around DS neck twice, with me having a small pelvis I would not have been able to push him out.

Re: If you were Induced...
I was induced 6 days early because of my gestational diabetes. They used cervadil and pitocin. I loved that I was induced because the whole family got to know what was going on before it even started. I was admitted at 1am and delivered vaginally at 5pm with no complications. After they broke my water at around 4cm, I was begging for an epidural. After that I basically slept through the rest of labor.

Re: If you were Induced...
I was induced, twice! I wouldn't have done it any other way. Despite being 10 days late and becoming impatient, I had a fantastic birth experience.
I went in on 9/11 to start the cervadil. On 9/12 they started the pitcoin. Got checked throughout the day, pitocin increased throughout the day and still no progress. By 9:30am on 9/12 the dr gave me 3 options 1.go home and come back in a few days if the baby dosent come on his own 2.c-section 3.another round of induction (serial induction) and if he dosen't come on his own, then I'd need a c-section b/c he may have been too big. I chose option 3 for two reasons. I din't want to elect for a c-section b/c it really is a major procedure and I refused to leave the hospital until DS was on the OUTSIDE of my body!
So, Cervadil on the 12th and pitocin on the 13th. No progress by 9:20am so at 9:30am the doctor was able to break my water. First yowza contraction within 30 sections and then full on labor for 12 more hours. I got the epi at almost 8 cm and went to sleep for 2 1/2 hours. When I woke up, they checked me and DS's head was RIGHT THERE! I pushed for 45 minutes and out he came at 9:30pm!
Even though it was a long experience, it was really truely the best one for me. I desperately wanted to have a vaginal delivery. So, I was happy they gave me the chance to try the induction again.

Re: If you were Induced...
I was induced at 38w 6 d due to pre eclampsia
They used pictocin and had to break my water which wasnt as awful as people made it out to be. I was in labor for 8 hours and pushed for just under 2 hours. My experience really wasnt bad at all.

Re: If you were Induced...
I had a really successful induction. I was induced when I was 8 days late. Had the baby the next am. I was effaced, but not dilated at my 41w appt. When I went in for the induction, I was maybe 1 cm dilated and having very mild contractions--so maybe I was going to go anyway that night. They gave me cervadil around 8:30-9 pm and told me it would take 12 hours to work. I was having full-blown contractions within a couple of hours. My water broke on it's own around 5 am (and the cervadil came out) and DD was delivered, with just 20 minutes of pushing before 9:30. I was so nervous going in for the induction, but it really went smooth!
Good luck! I remember that week when I was late...it was torture. I'd wake up every morning around 4:30 and think, "crap, I'm still here." I hope the baby makes an appearance before Tues!

Re: If you were Induced...
I was induced at 42 weeks with DS#1. You can read my birth story through my profile. I just wanted to say I feel your pain. I was so tired of people saying why are you still here, when I got to work. The good news is it can't last forever, soon you will be holding your little one!

Re: If you were Induced...
I was induced 5 days past my DD unexpectedly due to low fluid at my growth sono. I was scared and unprepared but I wanted my baby to be safe. It is totally normal to feel nervous and scared.
I was admitted at around 11am by the time they prepped me I was given cervidil which a small pill they insert inside you, I progressed a little and 4 hours later they gave me another dose and then my water broke shortly after that.
I had contractions which were painful but i was breathing them through and then begged for some medication so they gave me something which made me drowsy and that lasted 1 hr...I was begging for epidural and I finally got it (most amazing thing in the world) so finally at 2:45am I started to push, and she came out at almost 4:00am. Pushing IMO was the hardest part, it really makes you exhausted.
I hope I didn't freak you out, in the beginning its all scary but once your in the room you will just go with the flow and go with your instinct. You will be fine!
Good Luck!!!

Re: If you were Induced...
I was induced at 38 weeks with DD, because I had a liver enzyme thing and was so itchy from head to toe every second of the day that I couldn't take it anymore.
I was already 98% effaced and 1-2cm dilated, though, so I probably would've gone on my own soon after anyway.

Re: If you were Induced...
I was induced 3 days past my DD. Great experience.
Cervadil at 1:30am. Dilated to 5cm by 9am when my water broke on its own. Epi at 11. Started pushing at 5:08pm and had DS at 6:24pm.

Check out my profile, you will see my birth story.
To sum it up :failed!
IMHO, inductions don't work unless the baby is ready to come soon anyway.

Re: If you were Induced...
I went into labor and it wasn't progressing so they induced me with pitocin. I continued to labor without dilating. I ended up with a c-section. Sometimes the epidural slows down the process so it's up to you depending on the pain. Try it first without it. I was in labor for 16.5 hours. Don't be nervous. You'll be fine.
IMO Babies comes when they want, induced or not.

Re: If you were Induced...
I was induced 3 days late, because I was flirting with preclampsia. I went in at 6:30pm, got cervadil at 8pm, started pitocin at 9 am, and DS was born at 12:43. Best of luck!!!

Re: If you were Induced...
A lot of us had successful inductions
Mine wasn't scheduled one though. I was admitted at 4 days after my due date due to low amniotic fluid.
I was given the first round of cytotic at around 4pm on a Wednesday, we did 3 more rounds. I was in a tremendous amount of pain (back labor) by the 4th round, i was given a "pain reliever" which basically knocked me out but woke me up for my contractions.
At around 8 pm on that Thursday, I was finally dilated enough to give me pitocin. I was also given an epidural... AMAZING!!!
Finally at 3am that Friday, they told me I was almost ready to push. Just hang out and bear down for a while.
I finally started to push at 3:30 and my son was born at 5:09.
I hope yours is successful and good luck!
