Reading the Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes

I am almost done...but not 100%

I have to say I am torn between whether I love this book...or really dont like it.

It is def a page turner and I have lost sleep over it---but for some reason some parts seem far fetched to me.

like too many random occurences---e.g. when Cory "decides" she wants to be a big girl and not talk to her mom so much----can that be true to make such a leap?

curious as to what others think. i do think that i do love the book

We just read it for my book club

We liked some parts, but it was definitely a bit too far fetched...esp w/Marion helping her

Also, I feel like you had to feel bad for Cee Cee to like the book a lot...but none of us could. Yeah it was scary that you were involved in that, but you STILL could have returned the baby. I mean, the governor's wife was really the victim here. We couldn't get past that part which made the rest of the book so-so.

I'd give it 3/5 stars Chat Icon

i also found it intresting and to be a page-turner, but agree that it was far-fetched in many aspects. also never bought in to all the phobias--they seemed to come out of nowhere.

i found the severity of her phobias a little shocking... Cee Cee definitely had some smothering qualities toward Cory. But it wouldnt have been so shocking if they discussed the phobias during her childhood... it just seemed like all of a sudden she had all these problems...

the only time i have a problem with far fetched books is when the author is claiming they are non-fiction... so it didnt bother me that it might have been a little exaggerated

I really like this book and I kind of felt sorry for CeeCee but i am not a mother so I think that may have something to do with it. At the end I didnt really know how to feel when everyone was "helping" CC because at the end she is a criminal. Since I read this book in january I being reading all of her other books and they are very intersting page turner with suspense and some type of big secret.

I am a mother and I did feel bad for CeeCee. She was in a tough situation and did the best she could. I will read her others too
