a fb friend was ranting about her dd getting the stink eye at a restaurant. her dd is also special needs. her opinion was if you dont want to hear kids dont leave your house.


so after the discrimination suits are filed, will the signs have to read 'no kids under 6, unless youre special needs'?

There was a thread on Parenting yesterday and people were complaining (Yes i broke my own rule of never reading on the parenting board).

Growing up, my parents went out frequently, without my sister and I, to weddings, out for dinner, the movies. I don’t understand some parents these days that feel the need to spend 27/7 with their kids. Don’t they ever want some alone time with their partner? and is it so wrong for others not to want to be with their kids?
Sometimes I can’t be with myself for 24 hours, nevertheless with my kids, if I had any.

My expectations for dining out are as follows:

McDonalds/Applebee’s/Fridays type of places = babies/children and families

upscale steak place where I am spending $200 for dinner = no babies or children, a quiet, romantic atmosphere.

Bars (not a bar in a restaurant) = NEVER any children in there

I am totally down with the ban on children in a movie theater if it's not the appropriate age range, I don't care if the parents bring them in or not.

I paid $16 per ticket for 3 people to see HP in HD on opening day, only to listen to the woman 2 seats away from me tell Nicholas - who was sitting next to me - and who seemed about 3 - that he needed to be quiet - THROUGH THE ENTIRE MOVIE. Right from the beginning, she was using an out-loud voice, not a quiet movie voice while Nicholas was crying he was scared.

Oh yes, bring the 3 year old to this movie, excellent idea!

One of my good friends from law school has 2 boys, one of which has Fragile X syndrome (a form of Autism). She knows well that people don't like noisy and unruly kids in restaurants so she and her husband only eat at family style restaurants or at home.

The one time she actually went to a restaurant and her kid started acting up, running around the restaurant, she got up, grabbed her coat, her kids, husband's arm and went home!!!
