toddler twin/trip moms.. i need help and advice!

hi all !! i haven't been on in a while, but i really need some advice on this current issue i am having. Chat Icon

So my boys are now 15 months, they are now walking , and even before that when they were just crawling i just have a really tough time going anywhere by myself to playdates. i admit it,, that i just can't handle it Chat Icon
i really need some advice on how you all do it and some tips.

my boys just go in 2 different directions, i can't keep up and it seems like its more of a hassle than anything else. and i hate using that word because i really do want to go out and have some fun on playdates.. i am a SAHM so i would love the adult interaction.

i feel like all i can do is go on walking playdates. they are awesome in the stroller and i can have some sanity

i am very vocal with them , they are 14 months adjusted, and i feel that they still don't understand "no" if they do something wrong. so they are still at that stage where i can't communicate.. so its really tough.
ughh i feel that i just have to wait it out until they fully understand me .

i need all the advice i can get.. sometimes mommies that don't have twins just don't understand sometimes.. and i know everyone means well too

I would always try to go to places where they could be "contained" - like people's houses/backyards, parks with fences, etc, or some place in general where I could see both of them. You just have to get out there and do it, you'll become more confident as you do.

I do a lot of contained places too! LOL

small playgrounds, Le Play Cafe, friends houses, places they can stay in the stroller a good part of the time then get out for a bit. it gets a little better when they start to understand NO more. mine know what it means, not that it means they listen! LOL

you just have to get out there and do it. it dos get easier as you get used to dealing with it.

Deanna-----I am having the same problem.

I took the boys to DH's softball game the other night. Georgie ran in 1 direction and was eating rocks. Hunter ran in the other direction and was trying to eat cigarette butts. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Even in our backyard I have problems. Hunter ran for the stairs to our deck. Georgie was in the kiddie pool and slipped and went under for a second. It's impossible to be 2 places at once.

I've found that for playdates, I need them to be in 1 small contained area.

I can't even take them to most parks. I have found a few smaller parks that are fenced in---but even there, 1 wants to climb on something not age appropriate; the other wants to eat dirt. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I guess I don't really have any advice, but at least u know u r not alone.

I am saving this thread for when my time comes. I have already started worrying about this issue and my boys aren't even here yet. Just the logistics of it all has me scared! Do you think those "leashes" would help? I know many people hate them, I'm just throwing it out as a suggestion.

Many hugs to you, I am sure its not easy Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am having the same issues, my boys are going to be 20 months and they run in different directions.

I try and bring someone with me to help me or I stay in a backyard with a closed fence. I cant go to a park alone, it just wouldnt work.

I try and keep them in the stroller as much as possible but sometimes they just want out and I feel bad.

What about a mothers helper? You can probably get a 12 year old to help you and pay them cheap. Thats what ppl tell me to do, I havent done it yet though

I totally understand how you feel.

I remember going through the same thing it was so hard! I felt like I couldn't go anywhere with out help! Some friends of singletons def did not understand and it was so not enjoyable to go out!! It is so much easier now! They started dc at 17 months and for me I think it helped them to follow rules! I'm really enjoying the 2's! They are such little boys! Hang in there ur doing the best you can and before u know it they will be listening and you will be able to take them out by yourself!!

Same. Mine are 20 months now and I am really limited on where I can take them but it gets easier as you just do it. Actually I have the easiest time meeting people for lunch. They do so well at restaurants and I really enjoy taking them out.

Re: toddler twin/trip moms.. i need help and advice!

It will get easier. My sister has 25 month old twin girls. And what she has been doing since they learned to be mobile is bring another adult. Otherwise her anxiety would be at a 10! When she does go out alone, it is to the store where they will be in a stroller or a shopping cart. She recently joined a playgroup that has a few other MOM's in it and they usually choose contained areas for the kids to play. Good Luck, but they will understand "no" soon enough.

and this is why i have never been on a play date, that and i don't know that many people that have kids hte same age, but i have never suggested it to anyone,
i hate visiting people even when with dh cause its always mostly on me to watch my girls, they are 14 months old and running

i know just go out and do it but it really is hard
