For those afraid of a medication free birth...
It can be done, whether it's planned or not.
My first DS was induced with ptocin-6 hours start to finish. I thought ptocin made me crazy. I literally felt like I had to leave the room. I got an epidural at 8cm. DS was out in 2 pushes.
This time, I saw the Dr at noon (40 weeks and 3 days), who brought up that I needed to be induced at 41 wks because I had gestational DM. She stripped my membranes, which didn't hurt much at all, it took 2 seconds. I was already 4cm and 75% effaced but -3 station at the time for over a week. I was having contractions but they were very weak.
At 3pm that day, the contractions started up like they had multiple times before-they felt like stronger BH every 5-10minutes. At 4:30pm I texted DH (for the first time in a year-I didn't even know he had an office phone number until that week!) and asked how long until he'd come home-he knew something was up so he finished up his work quickly. By 5pm I had a feeling this was it-they didn't go away, and water and rest or walking didn't stop them.
By 5:30pm everyone came home (DH and DS and MIL). I was doing work over email until 6pm (I stayed home for the past week afraid of a rapid labor and not making it to hospital in time). I called Ob and headed in about 6pm. I live 4 blocks from the hospital.
At 6:30pm I get checked in, checked at 6:45pm - 5.5cm almost fully effaced -2 station. Soon after, the contractions were getting bad. But I walked up to my delivery suite! By the time I got there that feeling like I had to leave the room was back (in hindsight, that's transition)! The Ob knew I didn't want Ptocin so ordered they break my water. I told them if I was less than 7cm I want an epidural...
At 7:15-7:30pm when she checked I was 9.5cm! Water was broken, the Ob walked in the room and delivered my DS in 4 pushes at 7:46pm. I was so proud I did it so fast and med free! And 1 little stitch for a first degree tear right where I had it last time...
All was good until an hour later I went to the bathroom and 900cc of blood pours out of me and my heart started to race. I had a severe bleed and lost a total of 1.4L. I got many meds and lots of fluids and a uterine massage so painful I needed a little dilaudid. No epi, but I needed dilaudid for this! Next thing I know, anesthesia was there. I was confused (especially since I didn't need an epi) by now so I didn't understand they were talking about surgery. My DH knew it was not good when they started calling the lab to crossmatch blood and asking if I planned on having any more kids (because the worst case was hysterectomy, which a friend of mine did have).
Luckily, I had great blood counts to start with (thank god I took iron the whole pregnancy). I didn't need any transfusion or surgery! They told me my delivery was so fast that's probably why I bled. I didn't bleed with DS #1 because I had ptocin for induction! haha
The delivery was not bad at all and I'd do it med free again in a heartbeat! The bleeding thing, however, makes me think 2 boys are enough for us! I also hate being preggo, I don't want to go through that again...for now.
Even with the bleeding etc, I felt sooooo good to not be pregnant-life is great. And 2 weeks later, I'm back to running

Oh, and for those afraid to poop during delivery - I totally did. DH said "well, it was a bit more than last time." Wait, LAST TIME?! I thought I escaped it. Without the epi I totally knew it was happening. Poo haha

God I hope I can avoid this at all cost but I love how well you took it.

You can't stop it! If you poop, you're pushing perfectly! First baby 2 pushes, this baby, 4 pushes with his shoulder stuck a little! I'd rather poop than feel the pain of pushing any more than a minute or 2.

I love this attitude!
Also, I love that your DH was such a gentleman he didn't mention your pooping with DC#1. Mine would giggle about that for the next 10 years, if he saw it.

Re: For those afraid of a medication free birth...
Wow, GREAT STORY! I pooped on the table as well...my poor dh and that poor nurse cleaning it up. Ah well...baby came flying out!
Ps....I also let some air out when the doc was breaking my water, my dh heard it and started cracking up. Asked if a window was open somewhere, cause the curtain blew.
I could punch him sometimes....
