Mini-Vacation ideas

Anyone ever taken their kids to Six Flags Great Adventure? My son started pre-school so we haven't had much of a summer. I feel guilty doing things with his twin sister and older brother when he is in school. So we are thinking of taking him out of school next Friday and going to either Dutchwonderland or Six Flags or maybe even both.

Anyone have experience with Hershey? Is it good for two 3-year olds (my son is PDD, but he handles waiting pretty well) and a 5-year old?

Any little trip ideas are appreciated. TIA

Re: Mini-Vacation ideas

I haven't been to six flags in ages and never with kids so I'm not sure. I just always remember there being a lot of lines.

What I do know is that for my son (and me) I tend to like smaller parks for him. Land if Make Believe in NJ is a good park. Nothing spectacular but still fun and it has a small waterpark too. Dutch Wonderland is probably good too. And don't forget Sesame Place which I believe gives you a disability pass.

Re: Mini-Vacation ideas

My DS is 3 and we went to Dutch Wonderland recently. He loved it! He is a sensory seeker, loves running, jumping, crashing, etc. and he absolutely loved the rides. I think it's perfect for the ages your kids are.

We also went down Friday and came back on Sunday, and all we did was DW - we didn't want to fit too much in. The one thing we had to do was leave the park around 1:30, go back to the hotel pool and return later. It just got way too hot for him mid-day since he hates the heat. There is a lot of shade in the park, but it was about 95 the day we were there. Chat Icon

I would choose Dutch Wonderland out of all of them. Six Flags is huge, the kid area is not so great IMO. Dutch Wonderland is perfect for smaller kids. Hershey is fun too, but I prefer DW over any other amusement park for kiddies.

Dutch Wonderland is GREAT!
We went last summer (DS was 3 and has PDD) and we had a BLAST!

This summer (very soon) we are heading to Hershey. Can't wait.

Me, personally am not a fan of 6 Flags. Never brought my kids there, but, last time I was there, it was just "OK". To me, there are much better parks out there!
