Sorry: health insurance question
I was just hired by a district, and was planning on using their health benefits.
My ds gets child health plus currently. My rates just changed to 30 dollars a month because of my husband being out of work.
Would I be able to get insurance for just m husband and me, and continue with child health plus for my son and sign him up the following year? Or would it be better off just to have him under my plan right from the start?

Congrats on your job! You would have to do a bit of a cost analysis and remember that when pay for insurance through work, it's pre-tax, so it might cost less, unless you can somehow pay for child health plus through flex spending or something...

In my district if you add just one person or more it is considered the family plan and is the same price. Not sure if that is how it works else where.

Same here.
If your new plan is the same company as mine, and I think it is the overall coverage is far better than 99% of most other insurance plans because of the sheer size of the pool of those insured.
The routine items might be the same, or maybe a few dollars more for a co-pay, but the comprehensive coverage (ex. hospitalization, etc... things you hopefully will never, ever need) is much, much better. We are covered for many procedures that are considered OOP for many other plans.
My insurance has always been better than any of the health insurance offered at every one of my husband's previous employers... one of the top reasons why I went back after my leave.
