car seat ?
what type of car seat is your school aged DC in?
5-point harness, high back booster or plain booster?

a 6 year old in a Recaro full backed booster
&
a 7 year old in a Maxi Cosi backless booster

my just turned 5 yr old is in a graco nautilus. Still using it with the 5 pt harness. It can stay that way til 65 lbs with that seat and I plan on it  Then it converts to a backed and backless booster. I wanna keep her in the harness awhile longer though.

DD#1 will be 6 next month and has been in a Graco Turbobooster (which uses the car's seatbelt) for a year now.
DD#2 was 4 in May and is still in a Britax Roundabout, but I am planning on switching her to the Graco booster at the end of the summer...

DD is in the graco booster. It has the full back and uses the car seatbelt.

My 5.5 year old son is in the Graco Nautilus with the five point harness in my husband's car, and the Britax Frontier 85 in my car, also still in the five point harness. He is approaching 65lbs, so we'll have to convert the Graco into a booster but he can stay harnessed in the Britax until 85 lbs.

5 yr old in a Britax frontier(5 point harness) for long rides and a Graco Turbo Booster for short rides. He (and I) is so no ready for just a booster-too much wiggle room!

This post is so interesting to me, because in my neighborhood most of the second graders are out of boosters. I know its the safest way to go, but unfortunately here...there is a lot of pressure to get out of the booster. Kids feel the peer pressure.

My friends son just turned 9 and is still in a LBB. She keeps asking me when he can stop using it. I keep telling her that 4ft 9in is the height recommendation. He is pretty small for his age. About 47 pounds and the height of a typical 7 year old. Her 6 year old son is 32 pounds and the size of your average 4 year old. He is in a five point harness booster on my recommendation. He will be in a booster until he is 16!!!
