Those who had Lapro

Can you please ease my mind by telling me about how you felt after your surgery and how long it took you to recuperate. I'm having my surgery in one month and I'm soooo nervous!! I never had surgery before! Thanks!

I had never had surgery before either...I had a laparoscopy last August. My sugery was on a Monday afternoon...and Tuesday I just took it easy..but Wednesday, I will feeling pretty normal. Thursday, I was out running errands, driving, back to my normal self.

It really wasn't bad at all...and I didn't have any pain or discomfort at all. Good luck!

Re: Those who had Lapro

Well, I had a laparoscopy and DNC for an ectopic pregnancy. It was done at the same time. So I don't know what it feels like to only have the laparoscopy. I had cramping and I couldn't laugh or cough. It hurt too much.

I think for me personally I was hurting more emotionally than physically. It took me 2 weeks to fully recover. But, I think for most women the recuperate time is up to a week.

FYI, I was also nervous because it was my first time. You will be fine! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks for the info. I guess I have every right to be nervous, I just can't stop thinking about it, and my surgery isn't for another 4 weeks.

I had a lapro for endometriosis about 7 years ago. Honestly, I found the whole process to be very easy. Good luck!Chat Icon

Re: Those who had Lapro

I had a lapro done 2 years ago to have my tubes removed. Overall it wasn't so bad. You will feel sore for a couple of days but nothing some tylenol w/codiene (spl?) can't help.

In my case i felt sad- knowing that getting PG the natural way would never happen is a eye opener and it took me a little while to get used that. It was for the best as my tubes were not in great shape (hydro).

Good luck!

Re: Those who had Lapro

I had lap in February - my only advice is to expect discomfort afterwards...the drs put some air in the cavity to see what they are doing and that takes about 24 hours to leave the body. In that 24 hours it can get trapped in spots (for me it was the shoulder) and it was v. painful - nobody warned me, so I ended up in ER - jsut passin' along the info

hope this helps

Re: Those who had Lapro

I had a Lap done in December on a Friday. I was able, but shouldn't have, gone out to dinner that night. I was really sore but was able to walk around and stuff. I just took it easy, and wore comfortable pants. I had 4 incisions. Don't worry! I was just as scared as you are, but it wasn't that bad. I also went back to work on that Monday. Good luck! Oh... I didn't have any of the pain that's associated with the air that they fill you up with. I guess not everyone gets it. I was expecting it, but I'm glad I didn't get it!
