How rough do your kids play?

I really thought something was really wrong with my kids the way they interact and play with each other (5, 3.5, 2) until I went to friends houses and have heard what sounded like children literally killing each other while the moms still chat away in the next room. Rough play common in your house?

I don't allow it in my house (my boys are 3 and almost 5) but my sister's boys play very rough. Their father plays very rough with them and that's where they "learned" it, while my DH doesn't play that way.
With that said, my boys do like to play "rough-ish", I just don't allow it

Not rough at all. But M is a screamer that goes off like a car alarm if J so much as touches her.

My friend's sons go full force with light sabers, tackling, etc.

I'm not sure which way is better. Her kids are awesome athletes & they're exhausted come bedtime.

I only have DD, age 5. she is not rough at all. Sometimes she will get hyper and run around a little crazy but its not "rough" play. I always associate rough play with the boys. I see a lot of my friends with boys that play pretty rough. But that may just be a sterotype.

My five year old son is not rough at all. Sometimes I worry because he isn't and many of his friends are. My husband does not really play rough with him and he has no siblings.

Not too rough at all, thankfully! But that doesn't mean there aren't cat fights, with my DD whining and crying and my DS acting like he had nothing to do with it

I have 2 boys (4 and 6.5) and yes they play rough!! not all the time and we don't allow it all the time. They tackle, take each other down, gun/light saber fights, tackle football, play fighting - - not uncommon. Most of the time they play rough though -dad is involved! : )

I have 2 boys and they love wrestling, Nerf guns and martial arts. Play here is very rough. I have to keep a very close on on them and if it starts to not be friendly play I need to break it up.

I tried to forbid it, but they are who they are, so now I just referee more and try to teach good sportsmanship, safety and first aid.

Robbie and Noah SEEM rough.. loud, frenetic and constant movement.. but they aren't as rough as they seem. If Robbie or Noah so much as get a pinch they are screaming blue bloody murder.

I dunno.. I don't mind the rough and tumble stuff so much - they use nerf batons and swat each other - they create battlefields and warzones in the basement and backyard. But they have rules and they know them and more often then not respect them. They don't usually hit or touch out of anger or frustration. If they accidentally hurt the other in a moment of impassioned play they immediately stop and apologize.

I dunno - I grew up playing rough so I guess it's par for the course for me...

My two DDs (4 and 6) love to play rough and wrestle, but I dont really allow it becuase it typically ends with someone getting hurt.

Not at all...my 4.5 year old isn't into it and I will kill him if he touched my 17 mo old.

But I go to some houses... brothers are CRAZY! they seem to enjoy it and are constantly at it.
We were with our friends at a McDonalds playplace...one mom yells up,"OMG, that boy is being strangled"
I said oh they are brothers, they only do that to each other, never someone else's kid.

Another set of brothers-we were at a pool and the lifeguard actually dove into pool...she thought one brother was going to kill the other. But they were fine...take turns dunking each other.

I have 2 girls---a 4.5 year old and a 2 year old. If one of them so much as pushes the other I hear about it. They are not rough at all because neither one of them can take it.

I have a DD/DS & no, no rough play. Although the little one likes to rile up his sister & may come & pull her hair or pull a toy from her to get her wound up--but generally they play well together, no wrestling, etc. They do tend to run/jump; but that's it.

My two boys love to play rough with each other. Even if I set them up with a good activity, coloring, play doh, etc. it always turns into a wrestling match.The best is when one is beating the hell out of the other one then gives him a kiss then goes right back to punching.

My girls,are nuts! They like to run, jump, chase, etc. They like to tackle their pop pop too. It's funny, they laugh as they are doing it.
