Opinions Needed-Regarding Interview, Hearing back
I had an interview for my dream job as a Family Court attorney on July 11. I have experience in the field, although they were looking for entry level. I met with both the Bureau Chief and the Attorney in Charge that day. The same day, they called my references. Both interviews seemed to go well and I was told that both interviewers had to meet and they would be making a decision at the end of the month. They said I would be notified either way.
Fast forward to today-It is three weeks later, August 2nd. I haven't heard a thing. At the urging of a few people in the field, I called the Bureau Chief and left a casual email reminding her of who I was and letting her know that I was still interested in the position if it was available and I was checking it to see if they needed any more information.
Do you think this is a no-go? Maybe they aren't notifying people anyway? Do I email at any point or contact the attorney in charge? I really want this job, desperately need a job, but I don't want to jeopardize my chances. I also don't want them to forget about me either, but I don't want to appear obnoxious. It is a government position.
Any thoughts?

Re: Opinions Needed-Regarding Interview, Hearing back
my personal opinion is thata if they have not contacted you by now, it is probably a no go. They either filled it in house, or found a candidate that better met their needs.
one thing to check- is the job still posted? sometimes with cutbacks the position will get removed
i hope i am wrong, becuase you sound enthusiastic about the position.
good luck in your search!
