BF with Breast Implants
Has anyone done this?
I have implants and am pumping milk for my 3 week old daughter. It is going well, accept that I feel like my supply isn't great.
I was told there was a chance I wouldn't be able to produce enough for her due to the fact that I have breast implants. I am not sure if this is why I am not making more milk or if it could be other reasons.
Right now I pump every 3 hours (she has trouble latching). My first pump of the day I will get about 4 oz ....all other 1/2 hour pumping sessions will produce anywhere from 1.5 oz to 3 oz.
I am having a hard time keeping with with her needs so we are supplementing with formula. Any advice?

Re: BF with Breast Implants
Sorry I don't have experience with implants (I really wish I did though lol)
but I do have experience with not enough supply- try taking fenugreek supplements- I take 3 pills 3x a day, also drink plenty of water- I drink over 100 ounces a day- anything less the next day, I get nothing
you can also try and extend your pumping sessions- how long do you pump for- I was doing 15 minutes and I upped it to 20 and my milk increased substanially- I started having an additional let-down during the session
I hope that helps

Re: BF with Breast Implants
I don't have implants, but I did have a small suppy of milk no matter what I tried! It was very frustrating.
One trick was to pump longer than usual. At about the 22 minute mark, I would get a second let down. This would be after a full 5 minutes of pumping with nothing coming out. So pump longer!
Also, try putting the baby right on the breast as much as possible. Sometimes babies have a hard time latching and will grow into it a bit, becomes easier for them. That will stimulate the most production.

Re: BF with Breast Implants
Just based on my experience with pumping, you're doing GREAT! I could only pump 1 oz total when DS was that young. Give your body time. You might not need to supplement as much as you think! Hang in there!

Re: BF with Breast Implants
No implants here either but I exclusively pumped for the first 2 months and was having small supply issues and I took a lot of Fenugreek and drank a ton of water and it helped A LOT. I also always smelled like maple syrup but it could be worse lol. I also used the double pump for a half hour the same number of times a day that DS ate, so if he had 6 bottles in one day I would pump 6 times that day so my body knew to keep up with him....

Re: BF with Breast Implants
I successfully BF with implants however I had issued with my son DS latch (he was tongue tied) so I had to pump for the first 3 weeks and it sound like your supply is fine. Are you only pumping b/c LO is (usually) more efficient at getting milk than a pump. Since you can't change the fact you have them do everything to increase your supply but first off relax...... You're doing your best and every ounce your little one get the better.............
