Holy Crap!!! DId we just have an earthquake???
My whole house started movung and my lamps. Called my dad and he said he felt it too!
ETA: I'm in Baldwin Harbor
ETA: Writing more now that I can think. I was sitting in front of the computer (hence the post, LOL) and had just put DS upstairs for a nap. I didn't know what was happening. The house was creaking and my chair was moving. I stood up and sat down again and bounced on the chair thinking maybe I was shaking. I looked out the window and it was windy so I thought maybe the wind was moving the house but my mind was telling me that didn't make sense. Those few seconds seemed like an eternity.

Yep- my office in manhattan starting creaking, my mom in queens said the house was shaking and my secretary's daughter called from staten island saying the house was shaking

in brooklyn and yep! my whole house swayed back and forth. i thought i just got dizzy!
just went online and apparently there was a 5.8 magnitude earthquake in virgina and we felt it (as did anyone 90 miles of it)
not much news on it yet though.
scary!

I'm in NJ and felt it too :) I was on the phone with a friend a town away and said, OMG, my house is shaking. Then she said, so is mine! I have never felt and earthquake before but for some reason, I said, is this an earthquake?

Yes they evacuated a number of buildings on Old country road and my mom heard on the radio the pentagon as well. My phone was shaking and I couldn't imagine why - after it stopped I realized it was an earthquake.
BTW is anyone else's cell phone not working?

haha OMG! My neighbor across the street has been getting trees down and my house started to shake. I thought it was just a really strong vibration from that! I went to check on my kids and Genevieve was like "why is the house shaking - I dont like it".
I didnt even realize it was an earthquake until I went on FB about 2 minutes ago!

Wow, i'm in the city and didn't feel anything but heard the epicenter of the 5.8 quake is not even that close to us! It's in Richmond, VA! Can you imagine if it was closer or if the earthquake was stronger?

she said her house shook a lot - her neighbors had pictures fall off the walls, but other than that nothing too serious.
