budget question
I am in the process of setting up a budget. How much do you budget for your children's stuff? ( excluding diapers, wipes).

clothes, books toys, etc.
Clothes is in my family clothes budget. Books and toys are usually holiday gifts or just gotten from spending money.

Re: budget question
I would list your income and then your fixed expenses: i.e. mortgage, phone, food, car. Then figure out what is left after that. Put a little of that into savings. Then you have what you can spend for the month on other things.

Re: budget question
thanks for your advice. Our misc spending is out of control so Im trying to estimate what is reasonable. I am tracking how much I spend now so that should help. I also need to stay off sites like zulily and mamabargains. Thanks goodness I have boys or I would be in BIG trouble.

Re: budget question
Instead of buying new stuff comb through all your toys and put some away. Take them out in a few weeks and they will be new again! I buy books at TJ Maxx, Big Lots etc. I never buy Childrens books at Barnes and Noble really

Re: budget question
Well I go through my kids clothing from last fall/winter to see what still fits and have supplemented their new school wardrobes with what they wore last year. At the end of the season I go shopping for next year. I got DD a coat from Crazy 8 for $3.99 last year, it is perfect for the fall. It was originally over $30.
As for books - I agree TJ Maxx/HomeGoods cannot be beaten. I try to only shop on sale and use coupons when I buy things.
All of our birthdays are in the summer/early fall so this time of year is very heavy into presents. I try to limit presents to those times unless I can get a great deal, then I will put it in the present closet for when I need it.
I don't go shopping for the sake of going shopping. I try to go in with a list and get out with what I need.

Re: budget question
I don't include this stuff in my budget because DS grandparents spoil him with all of this stuff.
No need for me to drop money on anything else!
