at what age did your child learn to count by 2,3,4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10

2,4,6,8,10 etc
3,6,9,12,15 etc
4,8,12,16,20 etc
you get the point...

also when did they start counting down/backwards from 100

Re: quick question

Counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s is part of the 1st grade curriculum. Many of my 1st graders can count by 10s coming into 1st grade, and they learn 2s and 5s during the school year.

Re: quick question

I was going to say the 2, 5, 10 by 2nd grade. The rest definitely by 3rd as it's part of the times tables.

I've taught 2nd/3rd a few years ago; but don't recall when they countback from 100.

Re: quick question

DS just turned 4 and we have started to count by 5s and 10s. He can count to 100 for the most part by himself. He can count in spanish 1-10 as well.

Re: quick question

DD was taught this last year in Kindergarten. They called it skip counting and they did it by 2's up to the number 20 and then skip counting by 5's and 10 up to 100.

Re: quick question

Teaching Kindergarten now, I teach the kids how to count by 10's and 5's when doing our calendar in the morning and counting to 100th day of school. Having taught 2nd grade for 12 years....skip counting by 2,3, etc. Was a part of the curriculum.

Re: quick question

In kindergarten Emily was counting by 5s and 10s to 100. She doesn't quite get the concept of counting by 2s but I am pretty sure that will be taught this year in 1st grade.
