Every feeding is TORTURE!!! (a little long, sorry)

My poor Chat Icon has GERD (infant reflux)
I took her to the pediatrician last week because she was screaming so much during feeding. He gave me a prescription that seemed to work a little for a few days but now it's even worse!
I feel so bad for her & I'm going crazy, I can't take it! Anyone have any advice, is it normal? She is inconsolable while I'm feeding her, she eventually gets the whole bottle down but it's like I am torturing her. After she eats, I can't even put her down for at least an hour without more screaming. I couldn't breast feed so she's on similac sensitive, Dr. said we shouldn't switch since she is eating & pooping (although it's every other day)

What medication is she on? Could need to be adjusted. Some medications are weight sensitive...

She is on Nizatidine, never heard of it but when I looked it up it said it is usually given for reflux.
I will ask to test for milk allergy, I guess it could be anything.

ITA. If the medication isn't working then she might have a milk protein allergy. Unfortunately, it seems to be pretty common Chat Icon

That is the generic for Axid I think.. IMO it doesn't work as good as Zantac. DS was on Zantac for 5-6 months. It worked great. Then he refused to take it or would throw it up, because it tastes horrible and we switched to Axid. Isn't as strong as Zantac. We had to play with the dose until we got it right..

That medication is Axid. I think it's weight sensitive. Sometimes GERD and a milk allergy go hand in hand. It's good to rule it out if anything.

First talek to your DR. Ask for the milk protein test. you just take a poopy diaper in to the office. Second, talk about the meds. the first one worked for my DS (zantac) but my friends child had to change a few times before getting it right.
Also try tummy time after (not directly after) feeding. Reflux babies tend to like being on their tummy more so than their backs. Also try laying the baby to sleep on her side. I could never put DS on his back until he was on medication for a bit. Otherwise he would just freak. But he loved the swaddle and to be propped on his side.
Also get the crib wedge. Helps alot to keep them sleeping on the angle!

GL!
