Re: can somebody help me

Hi - and welcome - sorry for your difficulties. I can't directly answer your question, but its usually covered by insurance - I would start with the insurance company and identify what they do and do not cover.

Good luck

ETA - our company (CIGNA) covered unlimeited IUIs

Re: can somebody help me

There is another website, www.ivfconnections.com, that is also very useful. And so many books out there - Taking Charge of Your Fertility is the the first I think we all read, and from there the list just gets huge. I tried IUI but it didn't work for me. I think the first thing you need to find out is why you may have infertility problems - find the root of the problem and from there it should be easier to take action...

Good luck, welcome, and hope you are out of here soon!

Re: can somebody help me

well i went for blood test, an internal songram and all came out good. then when my husband went to get checked we found out he has a low sprem count and we were told by the doctor we have less than a 50% chance of getting pregnant and it will be difficult thats when my doctor suggested IUI.

Re: can somebody help me

the IUI procedure itself is pretty simple and painless. Im on #13 myself now, but no major male factors ..which is rare though. Usually for low counts they will try up to 3. I would though suggest pushing the DR towards an injectable or medicated cycle. The more follicles you have , the better the chances with a low count.
My Dr. charges $175 for each IUI ( but theres a lot of appointments leading up to it, as well as blood work, sonos, and the Semen anylasis and washing done the day of the IUI which could increase the costs majorly and then possibly the meds)

I would suggest calling your insurance company and asking them for a list of what is covered. Also, most clinics/Dr's will do this for you anyway.

for me , the actual IUI itself is about 3 minutes long tops and easier then a pap smear. I used to have some bad cramping after...but once I switched clinics I never had that again , and am kinda thinking it was the approach of our 1st place that caused that.

they inject DHs sample into you and you lay down for about 10 minutes and then your free to go..normal activety can resume.

GOOD LUCK! Chat Icon

Re: can somebody help me

Just wanted to send you hugs.
You might want to discuss with RE you are seeing...the women on this sight have lots of experience with the REs on LI/NY.
Also, they know everything there is to know about what blood tests to request and ways to help increase sperm counts.

Good Luck!!! You found a great bunch of women on this site to help support you.
