Stuff to do
Hi,
New to the site. I have 4.5 year old twin girlss and even though I am not new to the Nassau and Suffolk area. The area with kids is a mystery to me. So, I was wondering if some of you moms could help me out. I am looking for places to take the girls on a rainy day, or during the winter -- similiar to Chuck E. Cheese and Bounce U. But, I was wondering where else some of you bring your kids.
TIA!!!!

Welcome!
What area of LI are you in?
The local library is a great place. Our library has a play area for the kids, plenty of books, and lots of scheduled activities throughout the year.
Long Island Children's Museum http://www.licm.com/ is always fun (it's closed for fall cleanup until 9/16).

Library is absolutely our #1 go to place on rainy days. It cost nothing, the kids love it and there are activities for all age groups. If you don't get an event calendar at home, you can go to your library of choice and pick one up!
If you want to spend MONEY - Active Kids in Jericho has rock climbing, lazer games, nerf games. It's a hike for us but fun!
Lazerland of LI in Commack has lazer tag and token games. Monster Golf has token games and mini golf - but my kids aren't really mini golf lovers.

Re: Stuff to do
I am also a big fan of the library. They have so many free programs there. Also, check out the libraries in your area even if they are outside of your district. In most cases they will allow you to attend activities, even if you are not a resident, because not all activities fill up.
For example Bethpage Public Library is about 10 minutes from me, and has a great theater and often does live shows. Free admission in a beautiful theater --- it is something not to miss. We live the next district over, but they are find with us attending. We even borrow books from them because their library is larger then ours.
Another great option -- if you are interested in museums like the Children's Museum, Aviation Museum, check with your library if they have passes. Ours has passes and you have to sign up for them, some have a wait list, but you get in for free, and also get a discount on consessions and the gift shop. It's a great deal.
