BTDT delivery options
I'm 30.5 weeks. My OB brought up delivery options today for the first time. Both babies are head down. If they stay that way I would have a choice. I'm so torn over what to do. A vaginal deliver is optimal, but I would hate to have a double recovery if one is delivered vaginally and the other c section.
What was everyones experience?

Re: BTDT delivery options
Mine were delivered by emergency csection. However my dr. had mentioned early on that he likes to do sections when it comes to multiples for the exact reason you mentioned. I would let your dr. know that you would really like to do it vaginally as long as he could be almost positive (obviously something could come up) that you could deliver them both that way. I was never thrilled with the idea of having a section but now that I had it Im so happy I did.

Re: BTDT delivery options
I am 31 weeks & will be giving birth at Winthrop. My Csection is scheduled for 10/28 although I will probably go early after spending the weekend in hospital for bleeding/clotting. My cervix is measureing 1.8 now. Has anyone has this experience?? So nervous about delivering early. I had 2 steroid shots & each baby weighing over 4lbs now.

I received 2 steroid shots 24 hours apart starting on tuesday. Had a positive FFN, and cervix is 1.5. at 29 w they were each about 2.5 lbs.

Re: BTDT delivery options
My sono tech believes I will deliver next weekend. Her guess is 9/17-21 one of those days. I will be 32 weeks by then. I am on home/bed rest laying low but I hope I can make it to 34 weeks at least..

Re: BTDT delivery options
My girls were down at 30 weeks and stayed that way until I delivered them vaginally at 37w2dys. My entire pregnancy was problem -free and to be honest the L&D wasnt too bad at all. My OB from the start encouraged me to deliver vaginally - should the babies be head down. I'm glad the babies cooperated and stayed in place, I think you should absolutely give it a shot!

Re: BTDT delivery options
I opted for the c-section. I had complications during labor with DS and he resulted in an emergency c-section. Just made sense to go the same route. Although, only Baby A was head down, Baby B was transverse, so I guess it didn't matter what my history was, c-section was the way to go.

Re: BTDT delivery options
mine were delivered both ways - but mine were vertex and breech/more transcverse for 2nd- he would not engage even breech
so i recoverd from both but i did not really notice the episotomy i had because of the drugs they give you to rcover from c-section - i was up within 24 hours and moving around the room fairly well in2 days time
i hated the c-seciton recovery compare to a vaginal so if you can avoid it with 2 head down i would- it is a lot harder recovery - i had a vaginal with my older son

Re: BTDT delivery options
I didn't have a choice because Baby A's water broke and he was transverse. He was delivered via c-section about 8 hours after that first gush when I got up to pee at 3am.
Baby B's water never broke and he was delivered 2 minutes later with his sac still intact. His water never broke, even during the c-section. Its very rare that happens.

Re: BTDT delivery options
I delivered my at 36 weeks vaginally. Baby A and B were both head down (Baby B was transverse for a while). My doctor really pushed me to deliver them this way and I'm glad she did. My recovery wasn't bad at all!
