Anyone wear compression socks?

Was looking into these for achilles support. Something weird has been going on since my 11 mile run last week... when I walk downstairs I feel a popping sensation on or around my achilles. NO PAIN though! I am going to the orthopedic tomorrow just to check it out but no matter what he says I am running the race Oct 1. Should I get these socks?

I would ask the orthopedist. I have to say though, that I really like compression wear. I just did a 16 mile run in long compression tights from CW-X and I felt like I had bionic legs. The run was great and the rest of the day I felt like I didn't run at all. If the compression socks you're looking at are specifically for support of that area then I would try it. But definitely do a test run before your race. But again, the dr. will have the best answer.

A few things you can do (my DH had an Achilles problem last year - made him miss about 3 months of running).

1. Compression socks will definitely help.

2. Invest in some KT Tape and learn how to tape your Achilles properly

I know you said it does not hurt, but if it starts make sure you rest.

Diagnosis is achilles tendonitis. UGH!
But i Have no pain!
Dr. said its inflammed = larger than normal = therefore the popping/clicking I am feeling is because the tendon does not fit the same way as normal.

He said I can do the race but I have to stretch stretch stretch... and ice daily. He said the socks aren't a bad idea. I amy just wear the compression tights I already own (under armour) but I was thinking they may be too warm for Oct 1.
