Spinoff to the FB Profile Pic Question: If you have a picture of someone else's kid (a niece of nephew) does their parent know?

Some of the other responses on my prior thread got me thinking...

If you have a profile pic or avatar up that is of your niece or nephew (just them) or someone else's kid in general, does that child's parent know you're using their kid's picture as your Avatar or FB profile pic?

Did you ask them if you could use it or did you just put it up?

The reason I ask this is because I've seen parents on here complain that someone has put up pics of their kids on the FB without asking and they were not happy about it.

To answer my own question, at one point I've had a profile pic with me and my nephew and one with me and my niece and nephew, both times I've posted the picture and never once did I ask my sister if she minded! I guess I'm a crappy sister!

In my defense, my sister is on FB, she's seen the pics and she herself posts pics of the kids on her own page and in general I know she's ok with me posting pics of them too.

But before this post, I never really gave it a thought!

i never ask my sister or brother if i could put their daughters in my profile pic... but they get mad at me when i dont post my pictures on FB fast enough... so i dont think they mind...

when my nephew was born my SIL did ask me to make some pictures private... but he just turned 3 and shes never mentioned it since then so i dont think its an issue for her anymore...

I'm always IN the profile picture, but when my cousin's have been in the photo with me, I've never asked. Of course the photos are usually taken by me (facebook style with lots of arm in it ) or at the least with my camera so it's not like I've stolen a picture off of someone else's facebook and used it as my own. Nobody has ever been upset by it at all.

As for my FB friend who has a picture of their nephew up, they definitely didn't ask permission to use that photo, but the parent didn't mind at all.

this is funny, my SIL must have just seen my profile pic and commented that its a beautiful pic so i guess she doesnt care lol
