For Fun! Finding out Sex
So, DH and I were talking last night and we are going to find out the sex of the baby and I said we can maybe do one of the three options.
1. Find out in office.
2. Write in on paper and read at home in private (he said if he cries it will be home lol)
3. Bring paper and get one of those "surprise!!! It's a .." cakes.
Just for fun, what would YOU do?

We have both found out in the office and also had it written down and brought it home. It was WAYYY more exciting to have friends & family there when we opened the envelope. We had friends at the house, IL's on the phone and my parents by Skype!!
If you are going to find out anyway, I found it to be much more exciting to do it WITH loved ones!

I did the gender cake reveal last week. I had my doctor write on a piece of paper the sex. I went to the bakery and designed my cake, they wrote Twinkle Twinkle little start WE wonder what you are. I got to chose everything, the cake icing and they did the butter cream icing in the color of the sex of the baby. My DH and I went out to eat and then when we cut into the cake. I video taped it. We did not do it in front of friends and family. It was the best thing we ever did. I played our wedding song and lit candles, due to the fact that there is a small hole in the baby's belly this is what made us so happy.

I would do the cake idea only b/c another lif poster did that and she posted a video of her gender reveal party... her expression was priceless and i cried tears of happiness for her when i saw it.l I wish i had done that

We did the cake with immediate family (grandparents to be both sides and my one brother and his wife, my Dh has no siblings) we video taped, interviews beforehand with guesses etc. and video taped old wives tales (the ring on a string over the belly etc) and then the cake reveal. I wanted cake I would love either way to eat so I did canoli filling if boy and strawberry filling if girl, when we cut the cake the filling revealed the gender we picked vanilla cake either way and decorated the top yellow flowers, green icing..' pink or blue we love you' (which really the wording doesn't make sense with our fillings as most people have pink or blue coloring inside..oh well!! ???) the bakery had fun with it they never heard of it before and were so excited. It was great - we'll do it again 'next time'.

we had the sono tech write it down and put it in an envelope that I hid. we were waiting till we needed a pick me up and for after the shower. we didnt want to get bombarded with clothes. and we knew we wanted only the 2 of us to find out.
on 9/9, 3 weeks into bed rest, I really needed a pick me up and for the first time dw talked me out of looking. The girls were born on 9/10 and we were both so happy we didnt look.

I have the patience of a 1 year old we are finding out at the earliest moment possible!!!!
In fact I was planning on going for a 2nd opinion sono to confirm the gender but I think I may go for that before my 20 week anatomy so we can find out earlier!

We just recently did the CAKE surprise and it was the BEST thing ever!! I am so glad we did it that way and to have our family around was awesome!!

We'll be finding out and for us, I really prefer to find out just the two of us at first. I want to make sure we get to focus on our own and each other's reactions. We tend to get distracted from each other with our families around. I want to enjoy the moment just the two of us. I still think it will be really exciting to tell our families after the fact. I'm pretty sure we'll find out in the office, I don't think either of us will have any patience left at that point!

We are going with the cake option. My 20 week appointment was last Tuesday and we had the sono tech write it down on a piece of paper and seal it in an envelope. We drove it right over to the bakery bc we didn't trust ourselves with it
My birthday is Tuesday so we will be cutting the cake then. I can't wait!!!!!
