Traveling in the 2nd trimester...
Has anyone traveled during their 2nd trimester? DH and I booked a trip before we knew I was pregnant and now we are thinking about canceling...
Would you travel to a beach location outside the US in your second trimester, at about 17 weeks?

I definitely would. At 16 weeks I traveled (even though it was within the US) and I was very comfortable. Not too big, m/s was pretty much gone etc. Next week at 24 weeks I will be traveling again about 6 hour. If you're going to a resort just make sure that you drink bottled water. Have a fun trip!

I would and I plan on it! Lots of people schedule "babymoons" in the second trimester as a last getaway before the baby arrives.
have fun!

I did. We went to aruba for 9 days when I was 17 weeks. I'm so glad we went -- it will be the last vacation we go on for a while, lol

Thanks so much ladies!! I spoke to DH last night and decided to just go. It will be our last vacation for a while and we'll need the relaxation!

Re: Traveling in the 2nd trimester...
Enjoy it. My pregnancy hasn't been terribly complicated but I've had some issues so we haven't be able to go anywhere. We had 2 trips planned and I don't know if we will get to do them. I would totally go otherwise if I could. Have fun!

Re: Traveling in the 2nd trimester...
sure as long as your OB says you have no complications or reasons why you shouldn't. We went on a cruise when I was 15 weeks and returned when I was 16 weeks, we had a great time!

Re: Traveling in the 2nd trimester...
I didn't go outside the US, but I flew to FL. It was totally fine!
Do it now, because it's gonna be a while before you can go again.

I went to Playa del Carmen, Mexico when I was almost 17 weeks pregnant. I was totally fine. Just had to watch certain foods I ate and I only drank bottled water.

Re: Traveling in the 2nd trimester...
I would definitely go When I was about 14 weeks we went to Turks and Caicos. The trip was planned before I found out I was pregnant. As long as you are feeling good and dont have any complications I say go for it.

Re: Traveling in the 2nd trimester...
I travel a lot for work, so I asked my doc about this even though I'm still in my first trimester. He said that I can fly weekly up to 34 weeks.
Go and enjoy!

Re: Traveling in the 2nd trimester...
I used to travel weekly for work. My OB told me to stop at 32 weeks.
I flew just about every week from conception until 32 weeks. I even flew around week 25 from San Francisco to Miami! Towards the end it's important to drink a lot of water and walk during the flight if its over 2 hours.
I went to Mexico at 27 weeks for our babymoon.
At 17 weeks, you can absolutely fly out of the country!

Re: Traveling in the 2nd trimester...
The 2nd trimester is the perfect time to go on vacation!!!
Check with your doctor and they will reassure you. Just be sure to plan ahead just in case you have any kind of medical issue while you're there since it's not in the US. Find the closest hospital, make sure your insurance will cover you, etc, etc.
