6 weeks and STARVING

Ugh..since i started off about 4-5 lbs heavier when i got pregnant, i'm really trying to watch what i eat. Especially since i have to go to my bosses wedding in 3 weeks and don't want to look pregnant for that. Anyway, i just feel like my stomach is constantly growling...last night i was awoken at 1:30am with my stomach GROWLING...i had to get up and eat a granola bar. Anyone else starving????????
I really only want to gain 2 lbs at most for the 1st trimester but this is going to be difficult.
And to the girls who have lost weight or not gained a pound in their first trimester, i'm JEALOUS!!!

Re: 6 weeks and STARVING

I am one of those girls who lost weight, trust me, nothing to be jealous about Chat Icon I am not a skinny woman but wouldnt consider myself a big woman either. Trust me, normally I would be happy for losing the weight but I would have rather stayed the same or gained weight if I could get rid of this horrible MS...anyway, enough about me. Im sorry that you are so hungry. I know of some woman who actually get an increased appetite. How many weeks will you be for the wedding? Also, I think if you're hungry then you should just eat Chat Icon

Re: 6 weeks and STARVING

I was STARVING in the beginning. Up until 6.5 weeks when MS hit. I wouldn't deny yourself too much. It's one thing to gorge non stop for no reason but if you are hungry, eat something. Listen to your body. Chat Icon

wow, guess i'm in the minority here...oh well..i just ate another snack...i swear my stomach growels every 2-3 hours. I guess the best i can do is try to make healthier choices and try to stay away from crap food.

I need to eat every 1.5 hours...I'm nervous about weight gain but I know it's for a good cause--the health of the baby! Try to keep thinking that and don't go on the scaleChat Icon

I was the same way early on. I felt like I couldn't eat often enough. It didn't last very long though. I started having some aversions soon after which lasted maybe two weeks. After that, I've been eating pretty normally.

Everyone is different though. I would listen to what your body wants. Like you said, do your best to be healthy when you can but if your body is hungry this isn't the time to ignore it. I don't think you'll look pregnant for the wedding at all, maybe just a little heavier but in time everyone will know why. Don't stress much about it!

Re: 6 weeks and STARVING

you need to eat. This is not the time to deprive yourself of food.

Just pick fruit or veggies as a snack.

BUT EAT.

ITA. You body is telling you that you NEED nourishment. Now is not the time to be worrying about a pound or two. I'm not saying go have three cartons of ice cream, but if you are constantly having hunger pains then you need to change your eating habits.

Add more protein to your diet. Have hummus, peanut butter, nuts and cheese as snacks. You'll stay fuller longer.

ITA. I think it's totally crazy that i'm starving every hour and a half now, but I don't question it, I do what my body is telling me to do -- it knows WAY better than I do!

The only thing I lived on was bagels in the first trimester. Nothing else would take away my hunger.

me! i am one of few rare breeds that doesn't get MS...with DD i ate constantly, my mind was just programmed to thinking that if i didn't eat something i was denying the baby food and i felt awful...i didn't care about weight gain! this time around it's the same thing. i actually realized the other day if i go a long time period without eating i'll get that ravishing, starving feeling. eat up while you can! it's for the baby afterall Chat Icon Chat Icon

I was the same way up to about 8 weeks or so and then MS kicked in. Just keep trying to eat healthy snacks and meals - fruits, veggies, etc. Hopefully it will even out a bit for you soon

Re: 6 weeks and STARVING

Im 6 weeks 4 days and Im not always hungry but, I do eat as often as possible. I eat when the kids eat at work which is about 3-4 times a day depending on my hrs. Then I eat dinner and maybe something else before or after it depending on how late. I gained more weight then I wanted before handChat Icon , heaviest I have been in 3 yrs but, hoping not to go over board with this pregnancy like I did with my son.
