hypothyroidism - will I ever feel normal again?
Never felt worse in my life - and was diagnosed being hypo.
Hair has been falling out at such a rapid speed and I even have some bald patches around my crown, plus I am exhausted beyond belief.
I was put on a starter dosage for now of Levothyroxine, but just wanted to hear your experiences.
I know it will get better, I just need to hear it, I think.
TIA

You will feel much better once they regulate your medication and find out what dosage works for you!

Yes, finding the right dosage should help you get back to normal completely. If it doesn't you may want to try the more expensive drug -Synthroid. My Dr. told me some people are sensitive to the subtle differences in drug and may respond to the non-generic brand a little better.

Get on synthroid. The pharmacy messed up and gave me the generic one time and I felt the exact way you're describinfg. On Synthroid, I am fine.

You will feel better but it will take some time. I prefer synthroid over the generic but both work...which ever medicine youdecide to take you should always take the same one. It took about two months for my body to adjust-the first few weeks I took synthroid it made me feel sick.

it will get better - just takes some time. I've been dealing with finding my correct dosage for 3 years already - i had it changed a few times up (pregnant twice in btwn which usually have to increase the dosage)
i had to be given a combo (synthroid and cytomel) worked for awhile but then didn't work well anymore so i had to get it adjusted again.
see an endocrinologist and have him/her adjust ur dosage

I take the generic - and yes, you will feel normal again. It does take time to get the dosage correct.
One thing to be aware of if you are taking the generic and not synthroid - each time you refill your script compare the name of the manufacturer to the previous batch. If they are different get your levels checked after 6 weeks. I've been lucky so far, the manufacturer has been the same through every refill.

Re: hypothyroidism - will I ever feel normal again?
I use the brand name Synthroid. I use to use the generic and found that they made me feel really bad.
If your hair is falling out please call your doctor ASAP it sounds like your levels are not right. It takes a while for the medication to regulate and you may need to get several blood tests done to make sure your levels are correct.
FM me if you have any questions.

Re: hypothyroidism - will I ever feel normal again?
I have hashimotos too and have been taking Synthroid for the past 4 years. Ive gone from .25 to 100 mcg. I definately feel better and can feel when my levels arent right. Hair falling out has been my #1 symptom when I need an adjustment.
just wanted to add things I have learned about taking my meds over the years: no tums or vitamins within 4-6 hours of taking synthroid. It inteferes with absorbtion. Always take on empty stomach and wait 30-60 mins before eating.
Hope you feel better!

I have Hashimotos, too. I've also had so many biopsies of my thyroid....and more. If you ever have questions regarding that, let me know!
