Hippotherapy

Hi Our PT mentioned starting my DS in hippotherapy in the next few months. I wanted to know if anyone has tried this type of therapy and how old their child was when they started. My DS is only 2.5 so I was thinking he was too young. Also, any recommendations where to go for the classes and if you got Early Intervention or you health insurance to cover it.

I am fairly certain, that hippotherapy can be funded through EI if your child qualifies for OT, or maybe PT, and the "hippotherapy" facility, has OTs and PTs on staff. Kind of like having OT at a sensory gym....the gym just has to be "approved' by the county.

Horse ability at Thomas's on round swamp road in Melville does it. My daughter volunteers there she assists (leads or side walks) with the therapists. They would probably have information for you. And would be able to answer your questions. There phone number: 631-367-1646

Saddle rock ( we are looking into this place).
