depression after miscarriage?

Ugh, this is harder to move on than I thought it would be Chat Icon I have a positive attitude, and I know we will get pregnant again. I feel like my miscarriage was most likely genetic (and I'm grateful that I miscarried if that were the case, my sister carried a Trisomy 13 baby to term and had no idea, it was completely devastating). But for some reason I can't seem to snap out of it. All I want to do is sleep, and I have a 17 month old to take care of Chat Icon It's not even that I WANT to sleep, I am just so tired all.the.time. and that is my red flag that my depression is starting. I just don't know what to do to snap myself out of it.

Thanks for listening.

Re: depression after miscarriage?

I am having a tough time too. I didnt leave my house for 2 weeks and refused to speak to anyone.

I'd definitely recommend seeing a counselor. It doesnt have to be permanent, just someone to get you through these hard months. I started seeing someone 2 weeks ago, and I'm glad I have that extra support. I dont plan on seeing her for very long but I'm dreading the holidays, so at least to get me through this.

Re: depression after miscarriage?

So sorry your going through thisChat Icon
For at least 2-3 weeks I also did not speak to anyone or go out & wld all the sudden cry thinking "what wld it be like if I was still pregnant" I tortured myself for those weeks and I have to say, it got a lil easier each day that passed. My mc was caused by extra chromosome 13. Im glad I had tissue tested, it was closure for me.
Time. Time made all the difference for me. I got outta my funk after I stared jogging again and getting exercise I felt good inside and now (almost 8wks later) I "good" Im just waiting for AF to start up again.
Hope you get out of your funk too real soon...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: depression after miscarriage?

I totally agree with Cate. After I lost my DS I strted seeing a counselor as well, every 2 weeks. It's helped me more than I can tell you. I've made progress on my own as well but I strongly believe I wouldn't have made it this far without those sessions.
