Food fun ideas for toddlers?
DS's preschool has food fun once a week. Next week I am responsible for the food fun activity.
Can you recommend some fun things kids can do with edible food?
Some things I am considering: decorating cup cakes banana splits gingerbread cookies

Fingerprinting with pudding. Stacking jello jiggler cubes. Potato stamps. Macaroni necklaces. Do they have to eat it or is it just having fun with food? Decorated sugar cookies.

My mom used to have us make Food Men (or women I guess lol).
Use apple or pear pieces to make the body. Carrots or celery for arms/ legs. Raisins for eyes. Etc. It was fun and also healthy.
I used to do this when I babysat and the kids loved it.

google "classroom cooking" - you'll get a few recipes. You an actually make a pudding pie or pumpkin pie w/o baking.
you can pre-shape some rice krispy treats and have the kids decorate them w/ icing/candy
vanilla waffer/banana sandwiches
I made DS a apple and peanut butter sandwich the other day.

I really don't know what it's called but that "earth-like pudding". Layered chocolate pudding with chocolate cookie crumbles and gummy worms in a clear plastic cup so you can see thru it.

Re: Food fun ideas for toddlers?
Cut up fruit that they can dip into yogurt? Peach yogurt or plain yogurt with some honey mixed in are yummy with fruit.
Or even fruit kebobs with yogurt dip.
I have a great yummy fruit dip recipe but it's not as healthy as yogurt....just take one block of cream cheese and mix with an electric hand mixer with a container of fluff and voila, super yummy fruit dip.
Have them make their favorite sandwiches (jelly, bologna, fluff, mock peanut butter that they sell at health food stores) on different breads and use cookie cutters to make them into shapes.
Fruit, pudding and cookie crumb parfaits...crumbled nilla wafers or oreos, layerd with pudding and sliced bananas and strawberries.

"Candy" Sushi! I've made this with my 4 yo DD. First you make rice crispie treats without spreading it in a pan. Spread some rice crispie mix on a fruit rollup. Then place a twizzler in the middle. Roll them up. A grown up can then cut them into pieces. It's sticky but so yummy.

Re: Food fun ideas for toddlers?
what about just stringing cheerio bracelets or neclaces? My DS loves doing that, takes time and its a fun snack afterwards. There's a fruity cheerio now, which make for more colorful bracelets.
