Speech Teachers..question
My nephew was assessed this morning to see if he needed services. He didn't qualify and my sister was told that he is in the 11th percentile. What percentile do you have to be in to receive services? To me, the 11th percentile seems pretty low..thanks!

Re: Speech Teachers..question
How old is your nephew? I know for young children (age 3-5), districts may not give services for some errors that are devlopmentally appropriate - ie some sounds dont emerge until a later age.

Re: Speech Teachers..question
Not a speech teacher, but a parent of a child who receives speech. My understanding is that they must test two standard deviations below the norm if qualifying for speech alone.
If qualifying for two services, I think it's 1.5 SD below.

Re: Speech Teachers..question
Thanks for your responses. My nephew just turned 7. I am going to ask the therapist in my school today.
