Specific reason/moment you knew you needed to lose weight

Was there a motivation or moment that you said to yourself I can't believe "THIS" just happened, I have to do this, enough is enough.

Complete this sentence:

You know you need to lose weight when.....

Re: Specific reason/moment you knew you needed to lose weight

... when you can't workout for 10 minutes without getting tired
... when you look at the scale and you want to throw up
... when your husband tells you "you got fat"
... when you look at yourself in the mirror and see too many rolls and dimples in your skin
... when people (family members, friends) start making comments about your weight and bring up the idea of you exercising in every conversation
... when all of your favorite clothes no longer fit

when you look in the mirror and feel sad no matter what you are wearing.

when you feel completely uncomfortable in your own skin.

Re: Specific reason/moment you knew you needed to lose weight

My sophomore year of college, I was about 15 pounds heavier than I am now. I have no idea how it happened - I was always the same weight growing up and even now I am still the saw weight as I was in HS. My working out and eating was more or less the same and I was fitting into the same clothes. One day I tried on top after top to go out in and I was like WTH - nothing looked good, my arms looked way too big to be mine. That night my friends and I went out and I saw pictures of myself - OMG I looked awful. The day after that I started making healthier choices eating wise and began running instead of using the elliptical.

Since that day I make sure I workout and eat healthy. I also laugh about it with my DH because the day I thought I looked bad was the day we officially started dating, so I guess I didn't look that bad after-all. Chat Icon

For me it was a picture I saw of myself. I knew I had gained weight, Im not blind. Then we had a family BBQ, cameras were flashing yada yada. I normally avoid them like the plague, like being behind the camera. Well i stared at it for 20 mins and couldnt believe I am as big as I am. Horrible.

I joined WW a few weeks later. Im down 10lbs. Nothing crazy could be more if I was working out and super strict with it.

That's exactly what happened with me. I wanted to take a course on how to train your dog to do agility trials. It was 94 degrees that day outside in the blazing sun. I was having a very hard time, breathing heavy, sweating like a pig, my head was pounding and my face was beet red, even 30 minutes after we finished.

My doctor said it... Chat Icon

I knew I needed to lose the weight, but that was the reality check for me. And once I started working out and could outpace my students in the halls, I realized how much I enjoyed it. Chat Icon

When you look in the mirror and see a old frumpy mom, the mom you never wanted to be. The one who is squeezed into her jeans with a muffin top.Chat Icon

Whenever my clothes start feeling a little tight, I know I need to cut back on eating & start exercising more.

Same here. The pics of my DDs first days at preschool that we took, I just look disgusting. That set me over the edge. I joined WW b/c I finally had the time to devote to ME, now that she was in school. I have lost 12 lbs since starting WW a mth ago. I am determined to do it after seeing those pics. The weight is just too aging.

Re: Specific reason/moment you knew you needed to lose weight

For me it was a health scare. During a routine check up at my gynecologist, they saw elevated sugar in my urine. They did blood work, and it ended up just being the sugary cereal I had eaten that morning. But, I never wanted to feel that way again, like I had done damage to my body by being overweight. So I picked a diet (South Beach) and never looked back. That was in 2003. By 2004 I had lost 30 lbs. I've kept all that off, and now I've started the diet again to finally lose the last 20 lbs to get to my goal weight.

Re: Specific reason/moment you knew you needed to lose weight

- My Doctor told me I was overweight

- I dont feel good when I look at myself

- My scale makes me want to cry

- Everything I wear is tight and I have muffin top

-I just feel so depressed.

I have just started today and hope I can do this. I always feel like a failure and when starting to diet in the winter it is the hardest for me because of all the food that come with the Holidays. I always give in and I know I have to stick with it this time. So today instead of getting that Subway sandwich I get all the time I will eat a Salad!! Jared can go suck it cause Subway dont work for me!!!Chat Icon
