When do the sleepovers start?
I remember sleeping over my friends houses all the time when I was a kid. There was one house in particular that we started having sleepovers at probably around 2nd or 3rd grade.
Emily has a group of 5 girlfriends that she has been very close with since they were 3 years old in preschool, so this is their 4th school year together. I also know these Moms very well. We do Zumba together, walk and ride bikes together, the girls are in Girl Scouts and Dance together, so I see them and spend time with these Moms several times a week.
We let Emily have a sleepover with one of the girls this weekend. They had a great time, were up until midnight giggling, and played so nicely together.
I wonder if this is the start of sleepovers galone, with these 5 girls!
At what age do sleepovers generally start?

Re: When do the sleepovers start?
If it was kids whose parents I knew for a long time and felt 100% comfortable, I don't see it as unheard of at her age. Some parents are completely against sleepovers at any age. I'm still on the fence, other than with relatives.

Re: When do the sleepovers start?
We started at 6 years old, but only with families we know extremely well.
I think this is one of those "kid by kid" things because my younger son is now six (and a half ) and has no interest in sleeping anywhere but at home or at Mimi's (his grandmother) house.

Re: When do the sleepovers start?
Yea...I definately wouldn't have felt comfortable with it if it was a family that was new to us this school year. Since it was a family that we've known for so many years, and the mom is my Girl Scout co-leader, I trusted it completely!
Then ended up sleeping over her house on Friday night and our house last night! Non-stop fun for these girls! But I am sure they'll be happy to have a break from eachother during the week!

Re: When do the sleepovers start?
Wow! DS is 4 and around here no one is even doing drop-off play dates/parties yet! I will say also - I agree, it's a personal thing - kid-by-kid. I don't think I am for sleep overs for a LONG while so I'm hoping this isn't the norm!

Re: When do the sleepovers start?
DD has only slept over one friend's house and she is 5 years old. I would only allow her to sleep over at someone's house that I knew very well. I work with the little girl's mom for 10 years now so we are both comfortable having our DD's sleep at each others houses. Her DD has slept here twice. She also lives right around the corner.

Only at their cousins so far. Not sure when I would be comfy with someone else.

Re: When do the sleepovers start?
With kids of my friends, I would have no problem with sleep overs- DS is in kinder. But with new friends, I wouldn't be comfortable.

Re: When do the sleepovers start?
DD just asked about a week ago and she is almost 5 1/2. I said no not yet. My childhood friend moved on my block and has a DD the same age. Even though I know the family, I don't want to start a trend. Other friends of mine have offered as well but I declined. She has only slept over her 2 grandmothers houses. I was sleeping over my friends in kindergarten. To me she just seems too young. I wouldn't mind at my friends like I said but I don't want her to get the idea in her head and start asking for school friends.

Re: When do the sleepovers start?
I am not comfortable with my children sleeping anywhere but in their own beds (unless we are on vacation obviously).
Mine are 8, 6, and 4 and so far, it hasn't even come up. Luckily for me, I have 3 "homebodies" ;)

Re: When do the sleepovers start?
I wont be starting that with DD for a long time. she is 5 and I think its too young. But I didnt start that until 6th grade or so , so maybe thats why I feel that way. I have only let her sleep at my Dads house. Not even my own sisters house yet,. LOL
