Twin Moms- Can someone critique my fake registry?

I began to add a few things based on some reasearch.... but I want to know what I am missing and if I have anything on here that stinks.

Give it to me honest, ladies!

It's very early, but since its twins, I was hoping to get some baby stuff as gifts for Christmas to get a head start.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Re: Twin Moms- Can someone critique my fake registry?

I'm not familiar with that brand bathtub but I would definitely get one that fits in the sink. Its so easy that way.

Add Sheet Savers for sure.

Instead of the Britax Booster, add a regular convertable car seat. You can't use that booster until 40 lbs... that will most likely be over 3 years old. We used the Evenflo Triumph for Landon starting at 6 months and then went into the Graco Nautilus at 2.5 years.

6 cases of size 1 diapers may be too many. I would make that 3 cases, and a case of size 1-2, and add some size 2s.

A pack&play with changing table option and bassinet is great to have if your bedrooms are on different floors that where you hang out most of the day.

You should also add a swing and bouncy seat. My kids all loved the Papasan seat. I used these seats to help with feeding both kids at the same time.

You will also need a rectal thermometer. I would use the one you have on there, and if you get a fever reading from that one, then check with rectal thermometer. the pediatrician will ask for rectal temp if they are ever sick. also add other health items (first aid, medicines, nail clippers, brush).

I'm not familiar with the stroller you chose but the double snap & go was awesome to use in the beginning.

ALso - baby monitor ( i like angelcare), bottles, nipples, bottle brush, etc (I think i recall you said formula feeding?).

Re: Twin Moms- Can someone critique my fake registry?

julz- thank you so much!

car seats- i was told to get infant ones- and also toddler ones for later. do you think i should get the convertible instead?

stroller- read that this one was good for twins since you can snap in al lthe stuff and the base is light.

the 2 chicco car seats fit into the stroller with adapers so was going that route. would that differ from a snap and go?

monitors - how many monitors should i get?

i made some changes- thank you so much and will have many more questions for you!!!

Re: Twin Moms- Can someone critique my fake registry?

Just a bunch of suggestions!

I would add 2 convertible car seats and get rid of the booster car seats (you won't use the boosters for a LONG time).

The Baby Jogger that you have is a single and you'll need a double.

I never got a Baby Bullet----just used a regular blender or food processor.

Not sure if you need portable high chairs. We never got/ used them.

I would hold off on the bumbos and trays. Not all babies use them.

Add more sheets.

Add towels, wash cloths and baby shampoo (read threads on parenting board about issues w/ Johnson and Johnson; the California Baby = $20 a bottle-----let someone buy you some off of your registry). Maybe add other stuff like Butt Paste and similar stuff?

Add a safety kit (it has nail files, clippers, brush, comb, etc)

Add more receiving blankets.

I forgot when you are due, but we only use onsies during the colder months. You may not need all of the sizes that u listed.

My boys lived in their bouncy seats and swings. Maybe look into one or both of those?

Add a diaper bag?

Bottles or breast pump?

Add changing pad covers?

Baby monitor?

Bedding? Furniture?

Seasonal stuff: If you're due in the summer, add sunblock, netting for stroller, sunshade stuff for beach, similar stuff.

BBB also has a Twin Registry. I found it to be super helpful. You can get it at their stores.

Also, add $25, $50 and $100 gift cards to your registry so you can buy "stuff" once the babies get home.

Re: Twin Moms- Can someone critique my fake registry?

skinny- thank you!!!!! i made some mroe adjustments.

im so lost on bottles. i will be formula feeding so not sure what to add to the list. what do you think?

do i need 2 monitors?

bumbos- somne say get 2 some say none- im so lost, i love the way babies look in them , though :)

as for diaper bag and furniture - will probably buy something not from BBB website. i have my eye on a few things on different sites.

stroller- a few twim moms have recommend that city select strroller bc you can add another seat to it and it holdds 2 car seats. this picture is what grabbed me. there are so many options, though.

--> I personally went for no frills, cheap bottles. Some of the fancy bottles have a lot of parts and I wanted things that were SIMPLE!!!!!!!! I think I used Evenflo bottles. I formula fed too. They have these things at BBB, but I can't find them on their website:

Link

They are a huge time saver bc you'll just measure the powdered formula in there before you go out and throw this little thing in your diaper bag w/ some bottles that have water in them.

do i need 2 monitors?

---I got 1 monitor plus an extra camera so I could rotate looking into both cribs.

bumbos- somne say get 2 some say none- im so lost, i love the way babies look in them , though :)

----Maybe u can register for them and return them if u don't use them OR not register and get them down the road if u think you'll need them! :)

as for diaper bag and furniture - will probably buy something not from BBB website. i have my eye on a few things on different sites.

---Gotcaha. U may want to register for 2 crib mattresses though. Those suckers are expensive!!!!

stroller- a few twim moms have recommend that city select strroller bc you can add another seat to it and it holdds 2 car seats. this picture is what grabbed me. there are so many options, though.

---Personally, I could not have survived without the Double Snap and Go. IMO, it is a must have for the first 6 months. From there, you can transition the kids into the regular stroller. Go talk to the staff at BBB. They are SUPER helpful in the stroller section.

Re: Twin Moms- Can someone critique my fake registry?

Looks pretty good!

I looooved the Halo Sleepsack with Swaddle. I'd register for more. We used them every night. I had 4 in total. The girls would wear them 2 nights in a row, then it would go into the laundry. So the second pair was great if I didn't get a chance to wash their load yet.

I didn't see pacifiers. We used them until they moved to their cribs at 4 months old.

I also didn't see rattles or car seat toys.

I think a diaper pail is a waste, IMO. We throw all diapers into the kitchen garbage which gets changed daily. I had a diaper pail when DS was a baby and if I let it go longer than a day it would stink.

I had 2 bouncers and 1 swing. Bouncers were great and both girls loved them.

We didn't bother with high chairs. Just used the FP Booster which goes on the chair. Takes up less space than a high chair.

I have that exersaucer. Takes up a lot of space. I'd suggest registering for one where the baby sits in the middle.

All my kids loved the jumperoo.

I didn't see crib toys. I had an aquarium thing for DS which he loved. I didn't bother for the girls and it's no big deal.

We have the Summer Infant monitor. It came with 2 video cameras and 1 handheld. The display can either show both cameras (up to 4 can be on one system) at the same time, rotate between the video cameras, or show only 1. So far I am happy with it.

Not familiar with the tub you picked. I have used the Summer Infant tub for all of my kids and it fits our needs perfectly, and it's only $20!

When in doubt you can never have enough blankets, sheets, or bibs.

thank you so much!!

couple questions-

diaper pail- our house has 2 floors and bedrooms are upstairs. if i put the dirties in the kitchen- that wound mean going downstairs to throw them out in the middle of the night. do you think i should skip it still

pacifiers- do i need these... i am worried the babies will be relying on them as they get older and dont want ot have to wean them- what are your thoughts on that

im torn on the booster vs high chair.
booster makes me nervous in safety, know what i mean? but i know many that love them. what are the pros and cons

thanks osooo much

Paci, dont register for.

You always get freebies in the hospital.
My kids liked the ones from hospital,- Soothies.
My thing also is that they fig out what kind the like and there are SO many.

My boys let them go after 2 months.

BOOSTER/High Chairs-
Do what you comfortable with.
If you can have two in your house and its not a space saving prob. Go for two high chairs.

I was limited so I used a booster space saver one and I had a leftover high chair from G.

DIAPER PAIL: for me I have two floors, and one main place is their bedroom so I got a diaper pail for ONLY upstairs.

It worked out well for me.

If I change downstairs, I would use a seperate bag and toss out same day or just run upstairs and put in diaper genie.

Re: Twin Moms- Can someone critique my fake registry?

I agree with what deb wrote.

Monitors- i got two because i used the angelcare with motion sensor pad. An alarm rings if god forbid they stop breathing. I had all my kids in cribs from the very beginning and this gave me peace of mind. I you go for a video one they sell extra cameras to add on. If you go for audio only you just need one. It all depends on what you want.

The double snap and go is really good, see if you can find one on craigslist or here for sale if you dont want to register for another stroller.

double snap n go is a must in the beginning IMO. my kids were in their infant seats til almost a year and i used it all the time!!!

sheet savers are a life saver if they spit up a lot like my kids did

i used video monitor. one base with 2 cameras. i also used angelcare monitors with that (i know, i am a psycho)

2 bouncy seats o some sort are a must IMO. i used them to feed them a lot.

i had a diaper pail upstairs and used it all the time. whenever i change them upstairs i use it. i would empty it the same night garbage went to the curb and it never smelt in their room. i had the diaper genie i think.

I agree about the pacifiers mine only wanted the soothies from the hospital you can not find the exact ones at the store.

We had the diaper genie and it was the biggest waste of money always brought diapers into kitchen garbage no matter what.

Used the snap and go for a while and then moved to Bumbleride Indie Twin...Wish I had also registered for a light weight stroller. Not thrilled with the customer service at Bumbleride.

Mel.....not a twin mommy but I highly recommend you register for the
Fischer Price Soothing Glider.

I buy it for everyone even if it's not on their registry and they thank me for it so much after the baby is born.

i'm not a twin mommy, but SIL has the cityselect and hates it- says the push is not easy once you snap the secondseat on. i htink its meant for a baby and toddler, might not be the best for twins. i would highly recommendgoing to BBB andplaying withstrollers before deciding.

Not a twin mommy, but I just wanted to add:

The BEST receiving blankets I found were the Aden & Anais blankets. They're huge, they're not overly warm, they can be used for SO many different things too (swaddling, in the rocker/glider/bouncer, to cover the carseat when you're out, to cover baby if you BF, etc etc etc). LOVE these. I'd get two packs (each comes with 4). We had 4 for DS and I'd say even 2 would be enough, but I liked carrying one in my diaper bag at all times or in the stroller for just in case. I also used them to lay on people before they held DS when he was a newborn (especially because he was a preemie).

Also, the Dr. Browns bottles get lots of raves for not being gassy etc, but they have a TON of parts. I really can't imagine washing 7 or 9 parts (I forget how many) PER bottle for TWO kids every day. I'd go crazy Chat Icon

We used the Playtex Drop Ins. The sucky part is having to buy the inserts (the bottles are hollow, you just drop a plastic insert into the bottle and then pour the milk/formula in), but the best thing is that the ONLY thing you have to keep cleaning or sanitizing is the nipples and the rings. That's it! SUPER easy, saves a ton of time, and I imagine that would be an extra plus with twins. Also, Target sells their own brand of the inserts for a lot cheaper than Playtex brand, and if you're a member of BJs, they sell them for cheap in bulk there too. Definitely recommend.

I highly recommend the Vicks baby rectal thermometer. I tried a bunch of different ones, but this one is my favorite because it takes the temp very quickly AND there's no risk of accidentally inserting it too far into the rectum when baby starts squirming around since the thermometer part is short and the "handle" part doesn't allow it to be inserted farther than necessary. Highly recommend. Even get two - one to keep at home and one to carry in your baby bag just in case.

Good luck!

ETA: Here's the Vicks thermometer I'm talking about:

One last thing - if you're a member of Costco or someone in your family is, get the costco brand (Kirkland) wipes!!! They are thick, don't tear, no fragrance, etc. They come in a box of 900 wipes (9 packs of 100 wipes each) and they're only like $18 for the entire box. Every few months they have a coupon for $4 off (they JUSt had it so it will be a while before they have it again).

Anyway, we've been using these from the beginning with DS and love them. I've tried a bunch of others here and there and nothing really compares (quality and price wise) IMO!
