Need help finding a farmhouse style kitchen table

I've searched high and low. I like the big rustic table PB has but I'm not sure about spending over $3K on a kitchen table when I have 3 small kids.
It's for a great room sort of space. The other side of the room has leather furniture. I'm hoping to seat 8-10 people with a leaf. 6 on a regular basic (well 5).
Looking for solid wood.
Possibly want a bench on one side but not sure how my kids will take to that - they may still need backs to their chairs.
C&B has an option with a bench with a back - but it's smaller, and table not solid wood.
I checked the unfinished wood store (Flaxman) in RVC but what they have is too country for me. I want rustic - but not country, if that makes any sense.
Any thoughts? Places to look? Ideas?

Have you checked JC Penney? We have sets from there in 2 rooms and no problems.

This is the look I'm going for - but this one is 10ft. That's a bit large for my space (it's 15ft long and the table is near an exit - slider - so I don't want it blocking the door)

Check out Europine in RVC. I got my table there-- seats 6, and had 2 leafs(ves??). We got it a few years ago, but was like 1300 at the time.

Here is a pic from our apt-- we now have it in our DR in our house. Don't have any good pics right now of our current DR.

look on etsy too - there are a number of carpenters custom making tables for reasonable prices.

I just got our kitchen table from Antique Tables Made Daily, they are based in Virginia. The quality is amazing, I am so happy with it...and the price was significantly less than other local places (EuroPine in RVC being one I looked at).

I can send you pics of mine if you want or you can just come by if you're in the area.

Have you checked pier one? My BIL got his table there (a few years back) and its pretty much what you are describing!

It's our dining room table leftover from our co-op. I have to say - the grooves in farmhouse tables leave MUCH to be desired when you have little kids. We're considering using wood filler in ours soon.

I LOVE the Cortona PB table. I am not sure this is all solid wood though.

a married couple makes them-she's a carpenter and he's an artist.
they use barnwood floor.

after searching forever for one-it came up on craigslist-was worth the drive dh took to go get it...
