I am lost and confused
We have been kind of trying for a couple of months, and I just started to peek on this board and I am lost as to what everyone is talking about most of the time. I don't get half of the abbreviations (i checked out lingo but most aren't there). i am beginning to feel like this whole thing is very complicated. Any help would be great.

It takes a lot of lurking and maybe reading up on TTC topics to fully understand...Ask away if something confuses you, Im sure one of us would be happy toexplain it...

I just started TTC and i'm a little confused still too, but I just wanted to say hello, welcome and good luck.
here are a couple of basic abbreviations
TTC - trying to conceive
AF- aunt Flo (your period)
BD - baby dance (sex)
CM- Cervical Mucus
CD - cycle Day
OPK- Ovulation Predictor Kit ( the sticks)
HPT- home Pregnancy test
PG- PRegnancy
FM- Fertility monitor( like clearblue easy makes)
BFN = big fat negative
hope that helps a bit.
Most people on here use a chart to keep track of their basal temperatures, which you take every morning when you get up. It helps pinpoint when you are actually ovulating.

Trust me we've all been in your shoes.. its very confusing and overwhelming once you first come onto this board, but in time you will understand it all! I lurked for a looooong time (back on LIW even)before I was comfortable enough to post
Laura posted a lot of the most commonly used abbreviations, but if there are any others that you do not recognize, please feel free to ask any of us!
OH and I would definitely recommend the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility" (aka "TCOYF") Toni Weschler as the first book you get to help you through this process. its an amazing book, and a 'must-read' IMO
Also you will benefit from checking out the TCOYF website, also known as www.ovusoft.com

A few other abbreviations that might be helpful:
CF = Cervical Fluid (the same thing as CM, cervical mucus)
2WW: the two week wait (the typical waiting time fram from when you ovulate to when your AF is due .. or when AF hopefully never shows  ) Of course not everyone has an exact 'two week wait" ...
DPO: days past ovulation
TBAF: that b*tch aunt flo 
POAS: pee on a stick

I am pretty new too and I wish I had the guts to ask about the abbreviations. I figured most of them out , but I just learned finally what exactly BD stood for. Welcome, and I hope you wont need this board for very long, although so far it has been an amazing support for me. thanks everyone
