How many is too many??
After three long injectible cycles that resulted in one follicle we were more aggressive this month and added metformin. When I went for blood and sono today I have one 13 on my left and four between 11 and 14 on the right. Got a call to come back in tomorrow and they lowered my dose for the night from 200 to 100. Has anyone ever went ahead with an IUI with five follicles (I am still praying that over the next few days a few stop growing)?? I haven't spoken to my doctor yet...just trying to think ahead:)

Re: How many is too many??
Just because that's how many you have now, doesn't mean all 5 will continue to develop and mature, etc.
Having said that .. if they do, you should really discuss your situation with your doctor. It really depends on your cause of infertility.. there are girls out there who get pregnant with multiples with that many follies, yet I had that many for many of my IUIs and most of the time I didn't get pregnant at all.
If you do get all 5 before you trigger, you should also weigh out your feelings a bouts selective termination in the event that all of them fertilize. It's not likely, but it's just something you need to consider and figure out how you would go forward if that situation became a reality.
Good luck!!

Re: How many is too many??
i had 5 and one took. right now i have 4 and hoping that any take. it depends on your diagnosis. i think starting at 5 and up, your doc will consider having a talk with you. but since it's so early, you dont know. how many days have you been stimming?

Re: How many is too many??
I've been stimming for 8 days. I have PCOS...clomid never worked for me. They started me slow on injectibles...but me cycles were soooo long. When I went today I was surprised that all five seem to be growing. I was supposed to go in on Monday...but they called today and based on my bloodwork I have to cut my dose in half tonight and go in tomorrow. Just praying it all works out...dying for a chance for a BFP for the holidays.

I've done clomid cycles with 7 follies, 3 of which matured. You think all of those will fully mature, even if they lower you dosage?

Re: How many is too many??
We went this morning. We definitely have four on the right. The largest is 16.5 and the smallest is 15...so I'm thinking they will all mature. Dr. San roman was there so we were able to meet with him. We are gonna go ahead with the IUI. Since none of the past iuis resulted in a pregnancy he feels the risk for multiples is not a concern. Now I'm just praying that increased follicles may increase my odds for a holiday BFP:)

Re: How many is too many??
I've done 3 cycles with 4 size 20+ follies but they all ended up in bfn. I than did 2 cycles with only 1 follie each resulted in a bfp so you just never know. If it were me I'd go for it.

Re: How many is too many??
The cycle I got my sticky bfp I had 4 or 5 20 + follies and I am pregnant with a singleton. I went for it knowing the quality of my eggs weren't that great. I would just make sure you would consider selective reduction if all took. Good luck!!
