DS wishes he didn't have a dad...???

I'm a crasher - I like to hear the "other side" - I'm divorced, my ex remarried. Hoping someone here can shed some light...


I don't know what to do, here's the backround:

DS is almost 4
Ex-h and I have been divorced/separated about 2 years
Ex-h is remarried, has a 5 y/o step son - who DS seems to like (wife/kid).
Ex-h has DS 2 nights/every other weekend.


Yesterday in the car, at dinner and again this morning proclaimed that he wished he didn't have a dad. He doesn't want to go to daddy's house. Wouldn't say why - I asked if he got in trouble - no, did he get yelled at - no, hit - no.

When he's there, he's usually fine unless he's super tired.

What do I tell DS?
Do I tell ex-h?

My Step daughter has a step sister. They get a long really well but at certain times they fight and I can tell feel frustrated.
Are they around the same age? It can be like sibling rivalry and when your Ex tries to be fair, your DS may think it's because of the Step brother etc.

Does your ex live in your old house? Sometimes the bio child can feel like the family is invading no matter how well they get along (they were there first). I know my SD sometimes feels like that.

I would definitely tell your ex. Don;t accuse him, just try to sort it out and make sure you let him know it is for best interest of your son.

ps: Maybe they are talking about having a bio child too. Never know.
