Well if you are like me, you have all struggled with the decision to separate or keep your twins, triplets etc together in school. You may have even agonized over the decision giving it very careful consideration. What you may not have realized is that the decision may not be yours to make at all! Many schools and principals enforce mandatory separation of twins beginning as early as pre-k. You may assume that this decision is based in medical research but it is NOT. ALL current research urges flexible classroom placement based upon the childrens individual needs and not upon the condition of their birth. The Tully report actually found that children who were separated had poorer reading scores and internalizing problems which got worse with time. It is because of this that I have begun a campaign to have a twin bill enacted in NY and have started a website to assist other parents nationwide in doing the same. I hope you will consider visiting and signing our nationwide petitions (11 states currently) and ask your family and friends to do the same.
