Northport Area Kindergarten Help -FullDay??? Updated w/ Petition!
I need to send my DS to full-day Kindergarten, I am a FTWM and I since NPT only offers 1/2 day I do not want to worry about half day care or juggling him, plus I have a almost 3 yr old DD so she will be in a preschool also. So can you tell me what you think of
Trinity?
St. Pauls?
Others that offer Full Day??

There are Open Houses coming up at these locations but wanted to know the inside scoop if possible before going.

We moved here when DD was entering 1st grade, so K wasn't an issue.
For DS, I will be sending him to the program at Laurel Ave school in the mornings. I think it is through Scope. If I remember correctly, it was about $350 monthly.
It starts about 8 am. They give them lunch and then bus them to their home school. Then, if you need it, you can use the Scope after- care program.
I have heard great things about it. One Mom told me that they taught her DS more there than it his home school.

My sister is in that district and she uses SCOPE. However, I grew up in the district and my friends all went to St Pauls.

scope is an option - it extends the kindergarten day. it is currently $302 a month, lunch is NOT included but a snack is.
on a side note, its time to start going to the open board meetings and tell them we WANT full day K!!!

Thanks for the info, as for going to the board, it would be great but never going to happen! Everyones taxes would have to be raised drastically for it to happen and with the 2% cap, well enough said!!! But we could always dream!!!!

The fact that Northport/east Northport does not offer full day K is archaic. The BOE needs to hear from more residents and step up the foundations offered in the district. We should get an online petition going ASAP...think we could get 100 signatures by next Monday (next BOE meeting)?

My sister put my nephew in SCOPE a few years ago and was very happy with it.
I don't know the pricing, but, like others said, they go in the AMs, bring their own lunch and get bussed to their home school.

My oldest is 2 but this will be a problem for me in the future. I would sign the petition.

If you know anyone with school aged children in the district please share...we would like to hit 100 signatures by Monday pm (next BOE meeting).
