Crashing- Pediatric Dentist/Sedation Question
Hi ladies.... Sorry to crash but my SIL is having a prob & I thought some of you might have some advice.....
my niece will be 3 in a few weeks...my SIL took her to a ped dentist & she freaked out- screaming/crying, they had to hold her down.
they tried a new ped dentist yesterday (a woman this time) & same thing... my niece lost her mind- screaming, crying, etc. My SIL said it was horrible. She said they had to hold her down & she has marks on her face from it it was so bad. The problem is that my niece needs to get a cavity filled. the dentist suggested having my niece sedated, but my SIL is apprehensive for obvious reasons and also bc it's $1000+ & not covered by insurance.
So does anyone on here have any experience with pediatric dentist sedation? My SIL is so upset over this... she doesnt want to traumatize my niece by them having to hold her down screaming again, but is still wary of the sedation route.
any info/advice/experience would be appreciated. TIA!

Re: Crashing- Pediatric Dentist/Sedation Question
We took DD to have some work done by a pediatric dentist when she was 31/2. It was not covered by our insurance but we felt comfortable with this dentist and she needed to be sedated due to the dental work being done. She was sedated for over an hour. I was extremely nervous but she was fine and I don't even think she remembers any of it. Her recovery was fine. We left the dentist office about 45 minutes after her surgery and she was eating bread on the car ride home. She was tired but perfectly fine by the time we got home.
