Need sensory gym recs & great OT for sensory

My son was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder through a developmental ped. He is currently going to feeding therapy through insurance as he doesn't eat (anything) & he qualified for speech through CPSE (although not for OT).

His feeding therapist has recently been bringing him into their sensory gym b4 starting his feeding therapy & he does 100% better after jumping on the trampoline, swinging and jumping in the ballpit.

He is extremely sensory seeking (he runs full speed into me & will head butt my arm & is constantly climbing/jumping).

Are there any sensory gyms in SW Suffolk County? Or SE Nassau?

His feeding therapist is leaving & we've been traveling 35 minutes to get there; so now we're starting w/ a new feeding person closer to home (but there is no gym at the new place).

Also, should insurance cover the OT if it was recommended by dev. ped (OT 2x wk) & if the current feeding therapist puts it in her report?

Does anyone have a great OT specifically for sensory issues?

Dove rehab. They specialize in sensory processing OT. Every child they treat has a sensory processing disorder Diagnosis. I completed one of my 3 month OT internships there.

I second Dove Rehab - they are wonderful. I had a friend who worked there for years and a nephew who attending the gym for awhile. I always recommend it to my parents for sensory processing rehab.

How old is he? I don't know where you live, but my DD got both of those diagnosis at 3 1/2. Through the district, she got PT for SID and Speech for the eating at Just Kids in Lindenhurst in a half day program.

In the summer before, I brought her to Kidz Therapy in Hauppauge.

When my daughter was 3,4 and 5 we used Kidz Therapy. They were great. She is now 7, I know you asked for Western Suffolk, but for those that live in eastern LI, I highly recommend, CHATS in Riverhead. They have my daughter on daily listening therapy and a sensory diet. She has been going for almost a year and I see such a difference.

Re: Need sensory gym recs & great OT for sensory

Thanks everyone. We just changed our feeding therapist to Good Sam & were pleasantly surprised that our therapist is also an OT person. They have a full sensory gym where we go; so thank you for all your help--but turns out we don't need it. She starts the session off in the gym & then moves on to feeding.
