DIBELS

Giving my first DIBELS assessment to my 2nd graders tomorrow.... I have no clue what I am doing after a 2 day "training" back in early December.

If anyone has done it/does it, can you give me a run down to refresh my mind>?

What tests are you giving? We have been using it for years and just moved to the DIBELS next this years.

I guess I should know this.... its def. DIBELS next- definitely the reading comp part and the one below maybe DORF and NWF

I teach 2nd also...I am doing my mid-year benchmark this week. They read 3 stories to you for 1 minute each. Mark miscues in booklet. Then they do the retell. You mark how many words they use in retell and make a decision on quality of retell. We use LARS to keep track of our data so we input the median scores. Mid year benchmark is 72 words, I believe. Below that will be progress monitored either biweekly or monthly.

For 2nd, mid year is only the DORF with retell, not the NWF. That is only done at the beginning of the year.

So after worrying I didnt have to give any- the principal scheduled a "team" to assess and since I only have 14 students, the other teachers did it so fast, they gave the DIBELS to my class.

And it was only DORF.
