Probably losing my job and not sure what to do
So I am a teacher and most likely I will be excessed. I have two small children and I am just unsure of what to do next. I was thinking of opening an etsy store for my crafts but not sure how that will affect if I get unemployment and it won't be enough money to cover the bills if it does. There are no teaching jobs out there, so I am kinda screwed in that respect. I also love photography but I question if I should jump into that. I just feel so lost!

I don't know much about etsy, but when my friend was in a similar situation, she looked into working at daycares and private school. Good luck!

Re: Probably losing my job and not sure what to do
I would consider doing both those things as a side, with potential to moving up to a F/T thing down the road if you can get a good following.
Depending on the type of teaching experience you have, you may be able to spin your skills into positions in other, related fields.
I have known a few people with an educational background who found jobs in the human services field.
Someone else got some kind of counseling-ish position at a college in the city.
I'd imagine it would be a paycut, but probably still better than UE.
I am sorry you are having to worry about this!!
P.S. I know someone who took a really limited P/T position and reported it to UE. It was like running a group a week for a few $$$$ and to get out of the house. They ended up cutting her off and she had to challenge it and give up the position to get her benefits back, so I'd be careful.

Re: Probably losing my job and not sure what to do
Thanks for the advice. The only thing with taking a part time position or one that doesn't pay enough is that I have two kids I would need to put in daycare, so it would need to be worth it for me in that respect.

What about babysitting?
You could do this out of your home.
I also knew a woman who did pet-sitting and dog-walking. She would watch the pets out of her home, and bring her kids with her to do the dog-walking.
You can make a decent chunk of change doing both of these things.
