Support Groups?
Anyone point me in the direction of where to look?
Lately It is just more and more overwhelming to take care of and guide noah and as my incessant posting has shown. I need help.
I have twin 2 yr olds and in all honesty , he is twice as hard as the two of them COMBINED.
B/C we havent had much luck with clear cut diagnosis...we are in a little limbo on how to "Deal" with the issues that creep up day to day.
I am sad a lot lately b/c I just don't know what to do. I try so hard, to stay patient, and relate to what he needs, but When I have to call his name 15 times to get his attention times 30-40 times a day or deal with horrific tantrums every hour, its just a lot right now.
This is a semi vent, semi ..where do I turn for help? He see's a therapist weekly but its more todeal with the seperation anxiety stuff and shes not well trained in developmental delays or behavior modification/assistance.
thanks again as always for reading and support!

Re: Support Groups?
I am in the same boat. When Ava was about 2-3, I saw a woman one on one, but I didn't feel like it did much. I felt like I was paying a co-pay to vent to a friend. Then about a year ago, I tried a life coach. After we talked for a while, she divulged she was in the same boat with her DS.
So, basically, what I have found is that having people to talk to that can relate to your situation is key. As far as finding a support group, I haven't found one, because we have never gotten a clear diagnosis. I looked into AHA. It is for parents of children with Asperger's and Autism. I also took DD to a social skills group. Neither were the right fit.
Can you get a parent trainer through EI? I had one, for a brief period and she was great. She listened and suggested good strategies.
There are other people struggling with their kids with various different issues, most don't talk about it. You are not alone!
What helped me, was going back to work. Having something else to occupy my mind saved me. I go back and forth between accepting her the ways she is (almost pretending she is normal), and then I am looking into the next great Doctor...the one that will give a a final diagnosis and a solution....etc
Coming on here is very helpful.
