IVF and anesthesia
what kind of anesthesia do they give you? are you knocked out totally for the ER and ET? or do they just give you valium or something? i really hope i get knocked out completely! i cant take pain very well.

For the egg retrieval you are put under general anesthesia... I'm not sure of how much or what kind... but it was a nice nap!

It's a. Local. Father they put the IV in, the last thing I remembered was them putting the oxygen tube in my nose. Then I woke up as they rolled me to recovery. Didn't feel a thing. Was a little uncomfortable afterward but no real pain. Just make sure you rest after because the anesthesia could make you nauseous good luck!

I was put to sleep for my egg retrieval. For the transfer you are awake.

Asleep for the retreival but awake for the transfer. I didn't even feel a thing for the transfer even though I was awake.

They insert a speculum then insert a catheter through your cervix into the uterus and then shoot the embies in. It was uncomfortable for me during but only for a minute.

You are put under local for the retrieval...its about 10 min total..no big thing
Awake for the transfer. Its slightly uncomfortable but nothing to worry about...good luck!

For me it was a semifull bladder. They had me empty my bladder when I got there and then drink 4 small cups of water after that. I wasnt uncomfortable at all.
