Jack Oliver 11-5-11 (late...lol)
Better late than never...lol. For the record, I had literally relocated to Ohio 2 weeks before the baby was born. Don't ask me how I did that! lol. DH got a great job over in a great area and we had to take it.
My story is not so eventful, lol, at least from all the birth stories I've read, mine's pretty average.
Water Broke at 6:20 am on 11/5, wasn't gushing but I knew it was it when I just couldn't stop leaking. Went straight to the hospital since I have the Group B Strep.
The nurse on duty went to check the fluid I was leaking and it was indeed my water. So they decided to let me labor on my own a little, I was only 1cm dialted.
Checked in, started Pitocin around 10:30 since I was still only 1cm. Around 1pm contractions became intense and 3 minutes apart. I have 3 herniated discs in my back, and I am almost certain if I didn't have that I could have lasted without the use of Nubain, I thought I could make it to the epidural.
Got epidural around 3pm, and was able to relax and was only 5cm at that point. I napped, and they let me have an ice pop. Around 7pm, they checked and I was still only 5, and all I felt was pressure.
At about 8:30, I felt this urge to poop, so they checked, and I was 9cm. Not even a half an hour goes by, and I really felt the urge, I was 10.
I started to push at 9pm on the dot. I got sick in the middle of a push, and the nurses were so good to me about it. They gave me some oxygen too so that I wouldn't pass out. I really felt with every 3rd push I had to do my head was going to explode.
At about 9:30pm, Jack Oliver came right out. He looked like a 10 pound baby, but only weighed in at 7lbs 11Oz, 20 inches long. He cries like a wookie - not kidding, he whimpers! It's so cute! But wow, I couldn't believe that I went through this!
Oh, and the hospital was wonderful (Southwest General here in Middleburg Heights, Ohio) - every single nurse and doctor on that day was an absolute delight with help. I never saw the doctor that I complained about in my past post, the doctor that delivered me was the one I was going to change too.
it says "I was told I am a Ranger Fan" because he needs to know his roots :)
