My beautiful baby girl is here!! WARNING, this was not a pleasant experience!

So On Thursday 11/17 I went out for Mexican for lunch with DH and friends. A few hours later I started feeling sick and had to go to the bathroom....after that I started to experience intense pain in my stomach and lower back...INTENSE and it wasn’t going away like I learned about contractions. It was constant so I thought I was just sick. I had DH come home, called my OB and the plan was to go to the hospital. I literally had to crawl on my hands and knees to the car...I was in such pain. Once I got to the car, I began to vomit pretty violently. Finally we were on our way to the hospital, OB told us to go to another hospital because the one I had planned to go to was completely full! So there goes my birth plan! I didnt care I just needed relief...the pain was constant...where were my contractions every 5 minutes?? So after frantically trying to find the right entrance and fighting with this person and that person and more vomiting I found myself on a hospital bed gripping to the side railings for dear life begging for an epidural or a c-section...anything that would ease the pain. When the nurse attempted to put an IV needle in my hand, she couldn’t find a vain so she tried about 5-6 times, and I know this is going to sound sick, but I enjoyed it because the pain from the needle poking me actually gave me some relief from my back pain. A nurse gave me Demerol and an IV but there was no relief. A random doctor checked me and i was barely a centimeter dilated...Are you serious!!! So my OB decided to put me on Pitocin. I got an epidural, they broke my water, and went to sleep. Around 4am I woke to more pain…the epidural was wearing off. So I got another dose and went back to sleep. I was progressing slowly so by like 9am I was still only like 3 cm dilated and the pain was back. I don’t know why I never learned about back labor, but that was what I was having and it was excruciating. It felt like an elephant was standing on my lower back, crushing my bones!! Anyway by 1:30 I was fully dilated and started pushing. My OB finally got there and told my family that if I didn’t have this baby by 2pm we had to go for a c-section. My nurses were amazing and really believed that I could do it so they talked to my DH and they decided that they were going to do all that they could to avoid a c-section.(at this point I knew nothing about the c-section, DH though I would freak out) They kept my OB occupied and had me start pushing. My OB didn’t come back in till like 3:30. He suggested using a vacuum, and if that didn’t work we would go in for the c-section. Pushing was the hardest thing I ever had to do. I felt every contraction in my lower back and all the way around my pelvis. DH was amazing, but I punched and slapped him a few times because he seemed to be reminiscing his college football days and was acting like this was some kind of football drill. He was great and didn’t flinch! After almost 3 hours of pushing and 22 hours of labor, Raya Cristine was born at 4:12pm on 11/18/11.

FYI, I live in Ohio

I had a very similar experience, with just horrific back labor, as DD was sunny side up. It was certainly the worst pain I'd ever felt in my life, and was also delivered with a vacuum!

But what a doll, congrats! She is beautiful!!!
